Chapter 113: 113 Silence

113 Silence

"You’ll have to kill me before you can proceed with your army."

The two spiritual energies collided with each other, but this time, Vaelra was slower. Her injuries were severe.

Her breathing was heavy.

"You’re reaching your limit."

Vaelra responded with an attack. However, the strike was blocked, and Zarek immediately counterattacked.

The blade struck the side of the Elder’s body. Blood splattered, and Vaelra fell onto one knee.

Elyra ran toward her.

"Elder!"

"No..."

Vaelra breathed with difficulty.

"Don’t stop."

She took a small vial from her clothes. Elyra immediately recognized what it was.

One of the pills Ariselle had given them, the same kind that every high-level warrior carried with them.

Vaelra put the pill into her mouth and swallowed it. At the same time, miraculously, a powerful spiritual energy began spreading throughout her body.

The wound did not disappear completely, but the bleeding stopped and the injury diminished considerably.

Her breathing stabilized.

The spiritual energy that had been consumed during the battle began to return.

Elyra looked at her in surprise.

"You can still fight?"

Vaelra slowly stood up.

"I can."

She tightened her grip on her sword.

"That’s exactly why our Queen gave us these pills."

Zarek narrowed his eyes.

"So you still had this trump card."

Vaelra looked at him.

"Not just me."

Around them, other wounded Medusas also began using the pills, including some who had been close to death.

Others could barely stand.

But after swallowing the medicine, they recovered part of their spiritual energy and managed to return to the battle.

The enemy’s advance slowed as the Medusas gained a new breath of life, and for a few minutes, the Medusas managed to stabilize the defensive line.

Even though the pills could not bring back the dead or erase wounds that had already destroyed their bodies, they still gave the Medusas renewed strength.

Unfortunately, the enemy army was simply too numerous and continued advancing brutally, without fear or caution.

No matter how many enemies the Medusas killed by making full use of the formation and the terrain, their numbers were still being reduced extremely quickly.

Their numbers continued to fall.

Six hundred.

Five hundred.

Four hundred.

Then three hundred more.

The bodies of the Beastmen also covered the battlefield. Hundreds had died.

Some were petrified, others were pierced by arrows, and many were mutilated.

But the enemy army still had enough men to continue.

Gorvak watched everything from a distance.

His gaze swept across the battlefield.

Velka was dead, and Zarek continued fighting. The northern formations were almost completely destroyed, but the Medusas were still resisting.

Gorvak finally removed the enormous hammer from his shoulder.

Khoran approached him.

"Velka died. Do you want to personally join the battle?"

Gorvak looked at the corpse.

"I saw."

"Zarek is keeping Vaelra occupied."

"How long?"

"Not long."

Gorvak remained silent before looking at Elyra.

"Is she one of the new ones on this battlefield?"

"Yes."

Gorvak tightened his grip on the hammer.

"Then I’ll use her blood to feed my hammer and avenge my brother."

Khoran frowned.

"You’re really going to enter the battle?"

Gorvak began walking.

"I’m bored. I’ll finish the two of them quickly, one after the other."

Meanwhile, Vaelra and Zarek continued fighting.

Elyra remained beside her. Her body was covered in wounds even after using the pill.

She could still fight. Her profound spiritual energy was almost completely recovered, and the pill was also healing her injuries.

Zarek advanced against Vaelra, and Elyra tried to help.

Zarek dodged Vaelra’s sword and struck Elyra in the chest.

BOOM!

The young woman was sent flying backward, her body rolling across the ground.

Vaelra shouted:

"ELYRA!"

Elyra tried to stand, and that was when a gigantic shadow fell before her.

Gorvak.

The enormous Beastman held his war hammer as his immense spiritual pressure exploded outward.

All nearby lower-level cultivators were forced to retreat.

Elyra raised her eyes.

Gorvak looked at her.

"You killed Velka."

Elyra tightened her grip on her sword.

"I did."

Gorvak raised his hammer.

"Then die by my hands."

"Gorvak!"

The enemy leader did not look at her.

"Stay where you are. Your turn will come as soon as I finish with your companion."

Vaelra continued advancing.

"She is not your opponent."

Gorvak finally turned his face toward her.

"I know."

His gaze returned to Elyra.

"That’s why I’ll kill her quickly."

Elyra gripped her sword tightly.

"I can still fight."

Vaelra shouted:

"Elyra, retreat!"

The young woman did not answer.

Gorvak advanced.

BOOM!

Elyra blocked the first strike. The impact made her arms tremble, and the ground cracked beneath her feet.

She was pushed backward.

Gorvak attacked again. Elyra barely dodged, and the hammer struck the ground.

BOOOOOOM!

The stone exploded, fragments of rock and spiritual energy striking the young woman’s body. Blood appeared on her face.

She attacked.

Her sword cut across Gorvak’s chest. The blade opened a wound, but the Beastman did not stop.

He grabbed her arm.

Elyra tried to escape.

Gorvak tightened his grip.

CRACK!

The sound of her bones breaking could be heard clearly.

Elyra screamed.

Vaelra tried to advance.

Zarek appeared before her.

"You will not interfere."

Vaelra attacked with all her strength.

"GET OUT OF MY WAY!"

As the two collided again, Gorvak raised his hammer.

Elyra looked at him.

For an instant, fear appeared in her eyes.

Then it disappeared.

She gritted her teeth.

"I..."

Her voice came out weak.

"...will not run."

Gorvak brought the hammer down, an enormous spiritual pressure descending with a crushing attack.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

The blow struck Elyra directly before she had time to defend herself. The impact exploded, crushing both her and the ground simultaneously.

A huge crater formed.

Stones flew in all directions, and when the dust finally began to disappear, Elyra remained at the center.

Her body was motionless.

Her sword had fallen from her hand, and blood slowly trickled down her face.

Then her body collapsed.

The aura of the tenth-stage Profound Nascence disappeared.

Elyra was dead.

Vaelra saw it.

For a second, it seemed as though the entire battlefield had fallen silent.

"ELYRA!"

Her scream echoed across the mountain range.

Gorvak raised his hammer again.

"Now it’s your turn."

Vaelra stood motionless, blood flowing from her wounds.

Around her, the remaining Medusas continued fighting.

But few were still alive, and even fewer were still capable of fighting.

Two hundred.

Only two hundred warriors remained standing in the north.

Some had lost their companions.

Others had used their last pills, and many could barely remain standing.

Vaelra looked at them and then at Elyra’s corpse.

Her beautiful face hardened.

She slowly raised her sword.

"Everyone..."
