The Little Gangster Girl and the man in glasses exchanged a look, and both saw the disdain in the other’s eyes. ‘So much for being impressive,’ they thought. ‘Turns out he’s just an empty suit.’

Before long, Li Yang was brought back into the villa.

Lu Da let out a hearty laugh. “Good! I like a man who can be magnanimous. In that case, I won’t beat around the bush. Your medical skills are excellent. How about this: from now on, you work for me as my personal doctor. As for money, don’t worry. I’ll pay you very generously.”

“I’m sorry, I already have a job,” Li Yang said earnestly. “I’m the doctor in my village. It’s far from the city, and I’m the only one they have. If I left, there’d be no one to treat them for even simple colds and fevers. So I really can’t work for you.”

The others all looked at Li Yang, gloating. ‘This motherfucker is asking for it.’

Scarface’s expression changed. “Boss, he really did come here specifically to cure your poison…”

Lu Da shot Scarface a glare, instantly silencing him.

“That was then. Now, you’re here, aren’t you?” Lu Da said. “With your incredible skill at curing poisons, you could keep me safe. By the way, if you can cure poison, you must know how to make it, too. How about you whip up a poison for me? I need it for an enemy of mine.”

“I’m afraid I’m only good at curing it, not making it,” Li Yang replied with a smile, declining the offer.

With that, the atmosphere in the room turned icy.

No one spoke.

Only Lu Da continued to eat his hot pot.

His expression was grim.

After swallowing a meatball, Lu Da finally set down his chopsticks. He stared at Li Yang and said, “I’m not a man who likes to beg. I only ask once. So listen carefully, this is the second time I’m asking you. It’s the only exception I’ll ever make. I suggest you take this opportunity…”

“There’s no need,” Li Yang said calmly. “You’re not worthy.”

Li Yang followed with a swift kick to her leg.

The Little Gangster Girl let out a bloodcurdling scream. Her leg was broken.

“Aaaah…!” the Little Gangster Girl shrieked. “I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you!”

The sudden turn of events left everyone stunned.

But now, the Little Gangster Girl had fallen silent.

The blade in Li Yang’s hand was now pressed against her throat.

“If you make another sound, your own blade will slice your throat open,” Li Yang said with unnerving calm. “I forgot to mention something. I can save people, but I’m also quite skilled at killing them.”

Everyone was dumbstruck.

Did you really think I’d come to treat your illness without taking a few precautions? Go on, press on the first rib below your left ribcage. Tell me if it hurts.”

Lu Da’s heart skipped a beat. Seeing how perfectly calm and composed Li Yang was, he grew suspicious and subconsciously did as he was told, pressing on the spot.

THUD. Lu Da instantly collapsed to the floor, foaming at the mouth.

“Boss…!” Everyone else jumped, staring in shock at Lu Da.

Li Yang rose to his feet, his expression unconcerned. “Do I look like a pushover to you?”

Lu Da’s eyes blazed with murderous intent. He couldn’t believe he’d been taken down by someone like this.

He couldn’t accept it, and his murderous rage toward Li Yang intensified.
