Chapter 345: I’ll Find Someone Too

Soon, Li Yang and Zhong Lin had bought the ginseng seeds. Not only that, they had managed to get high-quality seeds at a low price.

As they left, the owner and manager forced a smile and waved at them.

Behind them, a crowd of people was still demanding refunds.

Li Yang had thrown their shop into complete chaos.

After they left, Zhong Lin said, “I can’t believe a place with such a huge reputation is involved in such dirty business. One of these days, they’re going to be the ruin of Chaling.”

Li Yang sighed as well. “Yeah. If we hadn’t come here ourselves, we never would have known how shameless these people are.”

Zhong Lin sounded a bit resigned. “Well, there’s nothing we can do about it. Forget it, it’s not our problem anymore. I’ve bought plenty of things, and it looks like we’ve sorted everything out. So, let’s just head back.”

Li Yang nodded.

They were about to leave the herbal medicine market when, at that very moment, they saw a large group of people surround them.

“Officer Liu, those are the ones! They were spreading rumors in our market, saying we sell fake products. This is Chaling’s most important trade! How could we possibly sell fakes? Where does this leave my reputation as the president of the Chaling Herbal Medicine Association? You have to arrest them,” an old man said to the police officer beside him.

The police officer looked at Li Yang, nodded, and said, “Then I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to come with us.”

Li Yang was so angry he laughed. He had originally planned to let the matter drop. ‘Teaching you a lesson once should be enough,’ he’d thought. ‘I can’t be bothered with this.’ But he never expected someone would actually dare to jump out and sling mud at him.

At that, Li Yang became furious.

‘If I don’t show you what I’m made of, you’ll never learn your place, will you?’

‘Fine then. Today, I’ll make sure you know just how formidable I can be.’

“You want to take me away, is that it? Fine. But don’t you regret this.” With that, Li Yang called Shen Xu. “I’ve been arrested in Chaling. If you’re not busy, could you come give me a hand?”

After saying his piece, he hung up and got into the police car.

Zhong Lin, standing behind him, was frantic.

‘What… What the hell is going on?!’

Li Yang was quickly taken to the station.

“Alright, start talking. How did you intentionally slander the reputation of our Chaling herbal medicine market…?” someone asked, holding a notepad to take notes. “Who sent you?”

Li Yang just raised an eyebrow at him. “Whether I slandered them or not… why don’t you go to the market and see all the people demanding refunds? Don’t you already know the answer?”

“Behave yourself!” the man yelled, pointing at Li Yang.

Li Yang simply shut his mouth.

‘If you want to play hardball, I’m done wasting my breath on you.’

Meanwhile, Shen Xu was rushing to Chaling.

Although Chaling was famous for its herbal medicine trade, it was still, at the end of the day, a small city.

As soon as Shen Xu arrived in Chaling, she immediately found the city’s bigwigs.

Before long, Shen Xu had appeared at the station.

“Director Guo!” The officers at the station were startled to see the middle-aged man accompanying Shen Xu.

Director Guo looked to be in his forties and had a stern, imposing air.

“You arrested a man named Li Yang today, correct?” Director Guo asked, his expression dark.

“Yes, we did…” Officer Liu stepped forward and said. “This guy was spreading rumors in our herbal medicine market, saying they sell fake medicine and disrupting business…”

“Have you verified this?” Director Guo stepped forward and asked. “Do you know for a fact that he was spreading rumors?”

“I… The president of the association reported it. That’s what he said.”

“The president reported it?” Director Guo laughed. “So, in other words, you didn’t investigate it yourself?”

Officer Liu suddenly realized something was very wrong. “We’re already investigating. The man is being stubborn as a mule and refuses to say anything…”

“Liu Da!” Director Guo exploded with rage. “When you investigate, do you only investigate one person? Did you investigate the people who were demanding refunds? Did you investigate the owner of that shop? What about the customers? Did you investigate them?!”

Liu Da jumped in fright. “Director Guo, I…”

“You didn’t investigate, did you?” Director Guo gave a cold smile. “I know you didn’t, so I had my own people look into it. This Li Yang is a village doctor. He understands medicine—and I mean he *really* understands it. What he said wasn’t slander at all; it was the truth. That shop really was selling fake goods. I had my men find the people who wanted refunds, and they’re grateful to Li Yang. I have to say, Liu Da, you’ve really outdone yourself this time.”

A chill ran down Liu Da’s spine. “Director Guo, I… I just brought him in to cooperate with the investigation. I…”

“And this is how you get someone to cooperate with an investigation?!” Shen Xu could no longer hold back and said furiously, “Let me tell you, not only is Li Yang a doctor, but he has also helped us solve at least two cases. He’s been a great help to us, and now you treat him like this? Is there no law and order anymore?!”

Liu Da was trembling all over, filled with regret.

‘What the hell have I done? This is someone I absolutely can’t afford to offend!’
