Chapter 346: Settling the Score

Director Guo was also furious, but he didn’t show it as openly. He just said coldly, “Bring him out.”

“I’ll go!” Liu Da hurried to where Li Yang was being held and personally opened the door.

“Dr. Li, I am so sorry. It was all a misunderstanding. Everything’s fine now, we’ve cleared it all up. You can go…” Liu Da said, smiling at Li Yang.

SLAP!

But Li Yang, without a moment’s hesitation, raised his hand and slapped him across the face.

The slap left Liu Da completely stunned.

He lifted his head, a vicious glare fixed on Li Yang.

“So sorry…” Li Yang said, his expression unchanged. “My hand has a habit of slapping scumbags. Oh, right. You must find it unbelievable that I actually dared to hit you, don’t you? Shen Xu’s here, isn’t she? My friend… Just for today, I’ll ride her coattails. She must have found someone pretty important to lean on you, which is why you’re acting this way, right? I’m the type who holds a grudge. If someone messes with me, I have to mess with them back. That’s why I just slapped you back. Remember this. From now on, be a decent person and do your job properly.”

For some reason, even though Li Yang spoke softly, a smile on his face, Liu Da felt a bone-deep chill.

‘This young man… he seems like someone you shouldn’t mess with.’

Li Yang smiled faintly and patted his shoulder. “By the way, go tell that president of yours that Li Yang is very unhappy right now, and I’ll be coming to settle the score with him.”

With that, Li Yang strode out of the room.

Liu Da stood there gritting his teeth. After a moment, he finally followed.

“Are you okay?” Outside, Shen Xu rushed forward to ask.

“I’m fine!” Li Yang said with a grin. “Thanks, Officer Shen.”

“Why are you being so formal with me!” Shen Xu huffed. “I already know what happened. You did nothing wrong; they’re the ones at fault. Honestly! This is just going to ruin their reputation. At this rate, I doubt Chaling wants to stay in business, treating customers like that.”

Li Yang just gave a faint smile.

“You must be Li Yang.” Director Guo extended a hand. “Guo Jin.”

“Hello, Director Guo!” Li Yang had already guessed his rank from his uniform.

“Please, no need for formalities!” Guo Jin smiled, then his expression turned apologetic. “I’m truly sorry. I can’t believe you were subjected to such treatment in our jurisdiction. I am truly sorry.”

Li Yang smiled. “You’re too kind, Director Guo. They were the ones who did this. I know it has nothing to do with you.”

Guo Jin gave a wry smile. “Well, I’m glad you’re alright. I’ll be sure to teach them a lesson.”

“Thank you!” Li Yang said, then left with Shen Xu.

Guo Jin also departed shortly after.

Li Yang made a call to Zhong Lin, who arrived not long after.

Seeing Li Yang was unharmed, Zhong Lin breathed a sigh of relief.

“Thanks again. Why don’t you head back first?” Li Yang said to Shen Xu. “I thought one phone call from you would solve it. I didn’t expect you’d have to come all the way down here yourself.”

Shen Xu laughed. “You’re a clever one, aren’t you? Running to me with all your problems. Do you think I’m your nanny?”

Li Yang grinned. “Not at all. I just know Officer Shen owes me a few favors, and you’d feel bad if you didn’t get to pay them back, right?”

Hah!

Shen Xu was rendered speechless. Finally, she managed, “You’re not leaving? Planning to go after them again?”

Li Yang paused. ‘You know me too well.’

“They sell fake medicine, and this is how they treat the person who exposes them. If I just walk away now, what do you think will happen to the next person in my shoes who doesn’t have your help?” Li Yang asked.

Shen Xu was suddenly at a loss for words.

It was true.

“I’m just a petty person…” Li Yang said with a smile. “Alright, you go on back. I’m going to play with them a little longer.”

“I’ll stay with you,” Shen Xu said with a sigh of resignation. “Otherwise, I’m worried they’ll pull some dirty tricks on you.”

It was Li Yang’s turn to feel helpless. He could only turn to Zhong Lin and say, “Why don’t you head back first, then? Oh, and take my pickup. I’ll get a ride back with Officer Shen after I’m done here.”

Zhong Lin had no objections. With Shen Xu there, nothing too serious could happen anyway. He took the keys and left.

“By the way, about that file on Xiao Zhen you asked me for. Did you find anything?” Shen Xu asked.

“Not really. I was mainly just looking into her medical condition…” Li Yang said evasively. “It was nothing important. It’s all settled now.”

Shen Xu shot him a curious glance, but when he didn’t elaborate, she didn’t press him further.

“Let’s go,” Li Yang suggested to Shen Xu. “Let’s go have a nice, long chat with the Herbal Medicine Association.”

Meanwhile, at the Herbal Medicine Association, Liu Da was on the phone with their president, Zhang Qiang.

“Zhang Qiang, clean up your own damn mess!” Liu Da was seething. “I’m telling you, he’s been released. You’re on your own. From the looks of it, he’s coming to settle the score with you, so you’d better figure something out!”

CLICK!

Zhang Qiang stood there, stunned. ‘He’s out?’

‘Impossible! Didn’t you, Liu Da, say you could hold him for days? What the hell is going on?’
