"That’s good." Louis nodded and said.
Mia didn’t know what else to say for a moment, so she just kept smiling.
Louis was reluctant to hang up the phone. He changed the subject and said, "By the way, there’s something I need to tell you."
"Hmm?"
"Someone’s offering three million for Camden River’s head—a friend of yours who’s pretty close to you and the journalist who reported with him last time. If you know them, you might want to let them know to be careful when going out alone."
"What?" Mia was startled, paused for a long moment, and asked, "Why?"
"Offended someone."
"Lovegem Group?" Mia thought for a moment and hesitantly said.
"Yes." Louis continued, "But I’ve already asked Uncle Murphy to inform our people, so it shouldn’t be too dangerous. If you call the police, you can target the deceased chairman’s only son from Lovegem."
"Got it, thank you."
Louis paused, "No need to be so polite with me."
"Okay." Mia smiled.
"It’s getting late, I’m going to sleep now. Be careful on the road."
"Hmm, good night."
The two exchanged a few pleasantries, and Mia hung up.
She looked a bit gloomy, and Koa Jackson glanced at her and asked, "What’s wrong?"
"I’m fine." Mia looked at him and said, "It’s Camden River. Running news got him enemies so quickly; getting stabbed might not have been an accident."
"It’s inevitable." Koa comforted her, "There’s danger in every field. Don’t worry too much. Lucky people naturally have their way. Are you tired? If you are, take a nap; we’ll be home in about half an hour."
"I’ll talk to you, or else what if you get sleepy driving?"
"With wife and child by my side, how dare I be sleepy?" Koa chuckled.
His tone was truly gentle, and Mia was so charmed that she gazed at his profile, saying softly, "Brother Jackson must be the most handsome dad in the world. Our son will definitely be as handsome as you."
"Son?" Koa glanced at her belly, "That confident?"
"Of course." Mia touched her belly with one hand, confidently saying, "One boy and one girl. Son like you, daughter like me."
"Fraternal twins aren’t necessarily a boy and a girl." Koa corrected her.
"It’s definitely a boy and a girl." Mia insisted, wide-eyed and confidently sticking to her guns, "Surely a boy and a girl, son as handsome as you, daughter, hehe, definitely as sweet as me."
Her expression was playful, her short hair messy against the seat, Koa glanced at her and couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
"Why are you laughing?" Mia was displeased.
Koa’s eyes were filled with laughter, but he wouldn’t say a word.
He just felt that this girl really can’t grow up; she’s about to be a mom, yet still looks like a child.
She used to have long hair and appeared gentle and quiet.
But—
Then cut it short without hesitation for work, looking just like a few years ago.
He felt content.
They chatted casually and soon arrived home.
The night was deep.
Koa, afraid she was tired, carried her after getting out of the car and walked through the quiet hall.
The air mixed with the scent of soil and vegetation.
A gust of wind blew past, the leaves rustled as rain dripped down, Mia nestled in Koa’s arms, sleepy, suddenly heard a piercing "awoo" that startled her awake.
