Chapter 1628: Chapter 1585: Reunion with a Familiar Face (Part 3)
Aiden finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
Marcus Quinn drove Aiden to eat authentic roast duck. After the meal, they hurried to shop for wedding essentials.
Last time in Green County, Aiden only bought a small gold pig and couldn’t find any clothes or jewelry. Now in the Imperial City, there were no such limitations, so Marcus specifically took Aiden to the mall. Aiden had too few clothes, and this time she’d buy at least four sets for each season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—making a total of sixteen. As for the wedding gown and formal wear, they would need to be custom-made, which wouldn’t be ready on this visit. Luckily, their wedding wasn’t planned until next year.
Aiden was originally shopping happily; no woman dislikes beautiful things. After trying several pretty dresses and jackets, she turned around to find Marcus had bought them all. Instantly, she couldn’t help but want to grab him; here each piece of clothing was in the thousands or even tens of thousands—this rough man was indeed wasteful.
“I was just trying them on; don’t buy randomly.” Aiden pulled him aside, painfully calculating how much Marcus had just spent.
“You look great in them.” The man’s gaze was deep, his large hand caressing her head, tucking the stray hair away from her forehead, eyes heated. His Aiden should wear such beautiful clothes, radiating unique brilliance.
“Even so, you can’t buy them all. You’re so wasteful; you won’t be allowed to manage money in the future.” Aiden hummed, having given her bank card to Marcus when they came to the Imperial City, now realizing it was completely the wrong decision.
The man laughed quietly, his laughter softening the sharp contours of his face, raspily and seductively nodded, saying, “Yeah, from now on you’ll manage the household finances, and me too. I’ll earn money, support the household, and you.”
Aiden’s face heated upon hearing this; managing money was one thing, but why would she manage him too?
“You two have such a good relationship; sir, here’s the clothing you’ve purchased, all packed.” The sales assistant handed over five or six bags with a beaming smile. Initially, seeing the two dressed ordinarily, she thought they were just browsing; unexpectedly, this man paid so readily without checking the prices whenever the lady tried on pretty clothes.
“Our mall is currently having a promotion: spend 10,000 and receive a 300-cash voucher, spend 30,000 and receive a 1,000-cash voucher. Sir, you can go to the first-floor service desk to claim your 1,000-cash voucher,” the sales assistant enthusiastically explained.
“Okay, thank you.” Aiden smiled, looking at the shopping list, feeling like the day’s crab sales were wasted. They worked hard all day selling crabs, and it wasn’t equal to one credit card swipe in the mall!
“I’ll earn money; don’t worry.” The man whispered near her ear, chuckling, “Aiden, we haven’t bought a diamond ring yet.”
The man was so close, his breath tickling her ear, making Aiden’s body feel weak as she pulled him out of the store, her ears flushed red.
Marcus went with the receipt to the first-floor service desk to exchange for a cash voucher, while Aiden felt the mall heating was a bit much, sweating all over, waiting beside to calm her quickened heartbeat. She saw a figure by chance and froze for a moment.
Caspian Yarn? Aiden hesitated for several seconds, instinctively chasing after, the familiar figure in a black suit, accompanied by a pretty girl, carrying numerous bags out of the mall, directly getting in a car and leaving.
When Aiden chased outside, she could only see a Porsche’s tail end with an Imperial City license plate. Why would Caspian be in Imperial City? Aiden’s face paled, standing in the cold wind, recalling the previous newspaper report of him having a fiancée, feeling self-mocking.
She was about to return when a strong force embraced her.
Marcus hurriedly came out, tightly holding her, his expression unprecedentedly gloomy, features fiercely defined, looking at her with dark, swirling emotions, softly saying, “Why did you run out without a word?”
“I thought I saw a familiar face, chased out and realized I was mistaken.” Aiden said nervously, accidentally touching his hand, finding it chillingly cold, she quickly held his rough hand to warm him up.
Marcus gripped her small hand tightly, feeling the lost warmth gradually returning, his expression normalized as he pressed her small face tightly against his chest, hoarsely saying, “Don’t run around in the future, don’t scare me, okay?”
He saw clearly, Aiden chased out after a man, if it were before he could let go, now he couldn’t, his gaze carried flickers of deep light, it was about time to go to Seacoast and clear up Aiden’s matters.
Held in his arms, Aiden listened to his strong heartbeat, nodding slightly, eyes closed. She was well aware; Caspian Yarn was just her past, Marcus Quinn was her future. Just in her youth, she once had an engagement with Caspian, and had countless fantasies about him, seeing him again now was inevitably bittersweet.
She could no longer return to the days of the past.
Because of this interlude, they were no longer in the mood to continue shopping and drove back to the courtyard.
