Chapter 1630: Chapter 1586: The Most Important Thing Is for the Quinn Family to Have an Heir (Part 2)

“Are you really planning to live in the countryside like your grandfather?” Sage Howard looked at Marcus Quinn and then at A Tan, somewhat regretfully, “With your abilities, if you root yourself in the Imperial City, you’d surpass the Demon King Hun from my family. If you’re worried because of your father, you don’t have to. The Duncan Family has had a good run these two years, but you’re the eldest son, your grandfather’s connections are all in the Imperial City, so there’s no need to worry about the Duncan Family.”

A Tan perked up her ears.

“It’s not all because of my father,” Marcus Quinn spoke in a low voice, “I’ve been in the Military District for many years and have witnessed too much blood, so I want a peaceful life.” Marcus Quinn said, “I know Uncle Howard and Uncle Lu are concerned about me. Life in the countryside is quite good. I’m even thinking once the Holiday Village is complete, I’ll invite you all for a stay.”

“You’ve turned the village into a Holiday Village, then I must invite the old gang to take a look.” Sage Howard had also visited Anfield Village, back when old Mr. Quinn was around, often going there for meals. Hearing this, he was slightly delighted at the thought of the countryside’s good scenery, nurturing place.

Meanwhile, Sage Howard’s secretary returned with a late-night snack, bought quite a lot, various specialties of the Imperial City, perhaps for A Tan. The rest was special roasted duck, pig’s trotters, pork knuckles, along with crabs and little stir-fried dishes. The secretary also carried two Maotai bottles, laid out three sets of bowls and chopsticks, unpacked the night snack, set the table, and smilingly said, “Secretary, you take your time drinking, Old Wang and I will wait outside. No worries if you drink too much, we’ll make sure to get you back.”

“You have a seat too and drink a few glasses. Marcus coming back truly makes me happy. I won’t call Old Wang to drink; send some pork knuckles over to him.” Sage Howard called the secretary to sit down with them, laughing.

Marcus Quinn went to get another set of bowls and chopsticks. The secretary smiled in response and delivered some pork knuckles to driver Old Wang. Fortunately, he bought a lot, and seeing the Secretary breaking his abstinence to drink, he bought enough night snacks for six or seven people.

A Tan was momentarily stunned to hear the secretary calling Sage Howard Secretary, suddenly realizing that this Uncle Howard looked somewhat familiar. Thinking quickly, she hurriedly followed Marcus Quinn to the kitchen to get bowls and chopsticks.

The courtyard hadn’t been occupied for years, yet it lacked none of the necessary furniture or everyday items. Marcus Quinn discovered a set of brand-new chopsticks, scalded them with boiling water, and placed the bowls and plates in the sterilizer. Seeing A Tan coming over, he touched her face and felt the warmth, finally feeling assured, saying, “Tonight, I’ll have a drink with Uncle Howard, so it may be a bit late. If you can’t stay awake, just go to bed early.”

The man hesitated for a moment, his sharp-edged face showing a touch of hesitation, holding A Tan’s small hand, and softly saying, “A Tan, just this once, plus the time we get married, afterward, I won’t drink again, okay?”

A Tan was inwardly delighted to see him seeking permission for drinking; she indeed disliked the smell of alcohol on a man, but Marcus Quinn is a very self-controlled person. She hadn’t intended to control him too strictly.

“Then after you’ve had your drinks, you must shower before you come to bed. No drinking when it’s not necessary in the future.” A Tan’s voice was tender and soft.

Marcus Quinn immediately nodded, his stern face revealing a slight smile, reaching out to lift A Tan up, hugging her tightly in his arms. Her way of controlling him was truly cute, and he liked that she cared about him. A Tan willing to care about him swept away any gloominess from Marcus Quinn’s night, filling his body with a trace of joyful aura.

“Put me down.” A Tan’s face blushed scarlet, pinching the man’s narrow waist, softly saying, “I came to ask, who exactly is this Uncle Howard of yours, has a secretary, and the secretary calls him Secretary, isn’t he a government official?”

Marcus Quinn was momentarily stunned, genuinely surprised that A Tan knew nothing about the Imperial City’s affairs. The man paused for a moment and said, “The Imperial City is full of prestigious families; the Shaw Family leads, followed by the Howard Family and the Land Family. Uncle Howard is the eldest son of the Howard Family and also the highest-ranking household head of the Howard Family.”

A Tan was taken aback, she had already tried to envision Uncle Howard as influential, but hadn’t expected that the Howard Family held such status in the Imperial City.

She pinched her own face, wincing at the pain, then looked at Marcus Quinn and murmured, “So this Uncle Howard of yours is the one who often appears on TV news?”

No wonder she felt he looked familiar. But having studied abroad for four years, she never really cared about these political affairs. How could she not recognize him?

Marcus Quinn laughed softly, saying, “Don’t worry, Uncle Howard is quite approachable.”
