Chapter 1633: Chapter 1587: Brother Qi, the Strong Silent Type Who Spoils His Wife (2)

Just don’t know whether the connections here are deep or shallow.

“Once things are settled in the Imperial City, it’ll be New Year. After that, I’ll accompany you to the Seacoast.” The man spoke in a deep voice, “Don’t be afraid; we are getting married. From now on, husband and wife are one, your business is my business. No matter what, I won’t get angry at you.”

“Hmm.” Ada’s face warmed slightly, snuggling affectionately in his arms. The dream had genuinely scared her. She feared Marcus might have conflicts with Caspian, but Marcus always listened to her, making Ada feel a bit more relaxed, with a touch of sweetness.

Years ago, she never imagined she’d marry a man like this. She always liked the refined, fair-skinned, handsome type, perhaps because she’d never been with someone like Marcus. Once she encountered him, she realized wolf-like men are both terrifying and attractive.

After speaking so much, Ada felt a wave of relief and started to get sleepy. The man helped her tuck in the covers, climbed into bed, held her close, and softly asked, “Are you sleepy?”

“Hmm.” Ada nodded, sleepily asking, “Did Uncle Howard go home?”

“He did. He drank quite a bit. Tomorrow, we’ll first buy the diamond ring, the wedding set, and new bedding. It’s cold; you also need a down jacket. For the marriage certificate, it’s best to wear a festive coat, so let’s get a red one.” His seductive, raspy voice whispered in her ear, “How do you want to decorate the matrimonial home?”

Ada lay muddled in his arms and replied, “You decide, it’s fine.”

Marcus realized there’s so much to buy. Originally, when Ada was penniless and met him, she only bought daily clothes with no extras. After this round of purchasing, it would take several days just to buy everything.

Marcus calculated clothes and shoes for every season; jewelry and diamond rings couldn’t be left out. As for the marital home, it’s negotiable, but new red bedding sets are a must, along with skincare products. In recent months, she’s only used soft towels to wash her face, desperately eating fruit and drinking water. He noticed all of it.

Following him, Ada’s life was truly hard. Marcus gazed deeply, gently kissed her small face; to properly care for his delicate wife, he must earn more money.

Early the next morning, Marcus woke up and cleaned the inside and outside of the courtyard. Fortunately, Uncle Howard sent people over to clean every two weeks, investing time and effort every year to refurbish it. Over the years, the courtyard had been well maintained.

Marcus did a rough cleaning, and the courtyard looked brand new. The man went to the kitchen to boil hot water. With no ingredients at home—only yesterday’s fruits—he couldn’t make breakfast. Marcus returned to the bedroom and saw Ada still asleep. Since it was early, he closed the door and drove out to buy breakfast.

He had just taken out the car when he encountered Yeats Howard, who came to deliver some stuff.

“Hey, Marcus,” Yeats greeted him with a bright smile, showing his teeth, “Such a lucky coincidence! Don’t go out, I came early this morning to bring supplies.”

Yeats nimbly jumped out of the car, tapped the modified SUV’s trunk, and laughed spiritedly, “Food, drinks, essentials; everything’s there. Our old lady dragged me out of bed early to deliver them.”

Marcus got out and saw there were indeed all necessary ingredients, including a good amount of special fruits and snacks stuffed in the trunk.

Marcus patted Yeats’s shoulder, smiled, “Thanks for the hard work. Please say hi to the old lady for me. I’ll visit her in the next two days.”

“Got it.” Yeats carried a pig leg, grinning, “I haven’t had breakfast yet. Since I brought the ingredients, you gotta feed me. How could you not inform me when you came back? I would’ve hidden. Yesterday, after you drank with Dad, he hugged me and cried, scared the wits out of me.”

Yeats carried the pig leg into the courtyard and asked, “Where’s the kitchen?”

Marcus brought in two boxes of fruit, led him to the kitchen, and laughed, “Uncle Howard must have drunk too much; you’re his only son, naturally he’s close to you.”

“Oh dear, don’t even get me started. After he cried, he started hitting me, using a belt this thick.” Yeats gestured; fortunately, he had thick skin, and the old man wasn’t truly hitting him, just venting frustration. Whenever these people were around, he always ended up unlucky.

Even his troublesome uncle, Richard Shaw, was included. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t match these individuals. But Marcus farming in the countryside was considered promising by his dad, who even beat him because of it. What can he say?
