Chapter 6: Test from Lukas
Haruki and Vila slept beneath a bridge near the Academy while waiting for the next day to arrive in this world. Haruki, who had not fallen asleep yet, opened the System and checked the amount of time he had left in this world.
[REMAINING TIME: 4 HOURS]
"Will that be enough time?"
Haruki checked the contents of the System again, wanting to see what else it had to offer. He entered the System Shop and discovered that the flow of time in the real world could be slowed down.
The price was surprisingly cheap only 30 coins.
Without hesitation, Haruki purchased it.
Back in the real world, time immediately began to move much slower. Birds flying through the sky moved as slowly as snails, and everything else in the real world seemed to be moving at the same pace.
[TIME IN THE REAL WORLD HAS BEEN SLOWED DOWN]
"Phew... Alright. Time to sleep."
As time passed, the dark night gradually turned into a bright morning.
Vila was the first to wake up. She gently shook Haruki awake.
"Haruki... Wake up. We’re going to be late for the entrance exam."
Haruki slowly opened his eyes and got up, still feeling slightly sleepy.
"Good morning, Vila."
"Morning, Haruki."
Haruki washed his face using the flowing water beneath the bridge. After that, he was ready for the entrance examination.
The two of them immediately headed toward the Academy’s main gate. When they arrived, they found Lukas already waiting for them with a smile on his face.
"Yo, you two! Ready?"
"More than ready," Haruki replied.
Vila simply followed behind him. Although she tried to remain calm, she was actually nervous about the entrance exam.
Everyone in this Academy came from noble families, while Vila was merely a commoner.
"How can you be so fearless, Haruki?" Vila asked quietly.
The two of them entered the Academy together with Lukas.
The students nearby immediately noticed them walking alongside their teacher. Some whispered among themselves, while others quietly laughed.
Haruki and Vila were then brought to an area where the entrance examination would take place.
The first test required them to demonstrate their magic.
Haruki had no idea what kind of magic he was supposed to use. He quickly pulled out his dagger from the System and, without wasting any time, purchased the cheapest magic available.Gravity Magic.
Haruki activated it.
Suddenly, everyone around him was forced to the ground.
THUD!
Even Vila was slammed onto the ground.
"Turn it off, you idiot!" Lukas shouted.
"I’m sorry, Vila. Are you hurt?"
"I’m fine."
"You’re not going to apologize to me too, idiot?"
"Heh... Sorry, Teacher Lukas."
The examination continued with Vila’s magic test.Vila took a deep breath and concentrated, trying to bring out her magic.
Unexpectedly, she succeeded.
A green light appeared around her body.
After a few moments, Vila stopped using her magic and slowly collapsed to the ground, though she remained conscious.
"Are you okay, Vila?!" Haruki asked worriedly.
Lukas then explained that Vila possessed Healing Magic. However, she still needed to improve her concentration before she could properly control it.
"Alright. Vila, you’ve passed the test. Haruki, you have one more test."
"Huh?! Why does Vila pass while I still have another test?"
"Because her magic is Healing Magic. Unlike yours, her magic isn’t primarily suited for combat."
Haruki felt slightly annoyed, but he accepted the final test.
"Fine. The final test is... against me."
"Huh?"
Without warning, Lukas drew his sword and immediately charged at Haruki.
Fortunately, Haruki managed to pull out his dagger in time and blocked Lukas’s attack.
The students around the Academy began gathering to watch the fight between the two of them.
"Since when did you have that dagger?" Lukas asked.
He then launched attack after attack at Haruki.
"How long are you planning to keep defending, Haruki?!"
Haruki finally decided to use his Gravity Magic.
The moment he activated it, Lukas was forced to the ground.Seeing Lukas fall, Haruki thought he was about to win.
But then—
Lukas stood back up, supporting himself with his sword.A strange aura surrounded his body.Cancellation Magic.
The gravity surrounding him suddenly disappeared.
Haruki tried to use his magic again, but a notification immediately appeared in front of him.
[MAGIC CANNOT BE USED DUE TO CANCELLATION MAGIC]
"So his magic is Cancellation Magic..."
"This final test really sucks."
Haruki had no choice but to rely on his dagger.
He quickly ran backward to create some distance between himself and Lukas.
Haruki glanced at the System and considered purchasing a skill.
But he didn’t have enough coins.
"I’m finished."
Lukas approached him once again, raising his sword and preparing to strike.
Just as Haruki was about to be attacked, a notification suddenly appeared.
[YOU HAVE RECEIVED A FREE SKILL DUE TO YOUR DESPERATE SITUATION]
[THE SKILL HAS BEEN RANDOMLY SELECTED]
[CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE OBTAINED THE SKILL: BLADE RECALL]
"Blade Recall, huh?"
Haruki threw his dagger toward Lukas.
Lukas quickly dodged and created some distance between them.
"What an idiot! What are you doing, Haruki?"
"I know what I’m doing."
A blue aura suddenly surrounded Haruki’s hand.
The dagger that had been thrown away was suddenly pulled back toward him.
Lukas’s eyes widened.
The dagger flew directly toward him.
He quickly turned around and narrowly dodged the returning blade.
The dagger eventually returned to Haruki’s hand.
Haruki immediately rushed forward, intending to attack.
Lukas attempted to counterattack, but stopped when he realized the tip of Haruki’s dagger was already dangerously close to his face.
Lukas stared at the dagger in surprise.
"What kind of magic is that? I’ve never seen anything like it before."
Haruki remained silent.
After a moment, Lukas lowered his sword.
"I concede. Both of you have passed. You’re officially accepted into this Academy."
Haruki smiled in satisfaction after hearing those words.
The surrounding students immediately began whispering among themselves.
"Who is that guy?"
"Where did he come from?"
"I’ve never seen him before."
Meanwhile, from a distance, someone was quietly watching Haruki.
A student with slightly blue hair and matching blue eyes stood among the crowd.
He wore the Academy’s uniform, clearly identifying him as a student of the Academy.
His eyes remained fixed on Haruki.
There was a hint of admiration in his expression.
"What a strange person..."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"But he’s interesting."
