Chapter 312: Poor Soul [1]
Leaving Diana’s room, I quietly walked towards my own room.
Remembering my conversation with Diana, I couldn’t help but be amused by the facial expressions that the parasite had displayed.
Though I had to commend its ability to be able to deceive me for so long.
Honestly, if not for—
Hm?
For some reason, I didn’t exactly remember how I had been able to discover the existence of the parasite that was possessing Diana.
My mind began to process all my memories to search for—
"Cough... cough."
Haa...
I really had to take some rest.
These coughs were now beginning to affect my daily actions.
Sigh.
The headmaster must have surely cast his gaze on me to see who I was coming into contact with.
Though he could have done it more subtly... knowing the fact that the parasite could very well be a Sovereign or someone of a higher existence, the headmaster seemed to have taken the matter to heart.
And seeing Diana’s reaction, she seemed to have been caught off guard by the sudden gaze that was focused on her out of nowhere.
It was a given that the parasite would find some way to understand what my current situation with Nemur was, and why the latter had focused his gaze on me.
From the parasite’s behaviour, it was clear that she had no interest in exposing her existence to the world.
So knowing that, I had now grown curious about how the parasite would interrogate me for the answers to her questions.
Would she threaten to kill me?
Or harm my family?
Neither of the choices felt like something that a being on the level of the parasite would make.
Having known the world of cultivation far better than me, she should have a fair idea about how the use of excessive force worked against people like me.
Still, I couldn’t be too arrogant to think that winning against the parasite or manipulating her was an easy deal.
Handling her might prove to be far more dangerous than my encounters with the headmaster as well as Antra.
Thinking about Antra, I wondered if that guy would have any knowledge about the parasite.
I just hoped that they wouldn’t be some close friends or else... my life could take a turn for the worst.
Hm?
Being realistic about it, if the parasite had indeed been friends with Antra, then there was no way that she would have been here, hiding in the body of a young girl, who hadn’t even advanced in the tiers of the Silver rank.
The only possible explanation was that the parasite had no one to rely on.
This... it was something that I could benefit from.
After all, if the parasite had made enemies all over the world in her past, then it was a given that our goals would align quite a lot.
Still, I had to be extremely cautious in each of my actions going forward.
Any mistake on my part could prove to be lethal for the entirety of my ambitions, though that had been the case since the start.
I had never walked the easy road, so maybe even my current situation could be considered a normal one.
I had already reached my dorm, when another thought struck my mind.
That werewolf... Jacob Bristle, was it?
In the chain of events so far, I had completely forgotten about him.
Had my brain dulled over the days?
Or was it just a normal error on my part?
But it wasn’t like me to forget such details.
I had decided to recruit the werewolf on my side, as he would serve a good use for me.
If the timing of the lectures was taken into consideration, then the guy should have been free at the moment.
Stopping in my tracks, I turned around to search for Jacob.

The sitting areas allocated across the academy were now filled with the students chatting amongst themselves.
Some had snacks in their hands while others consumed some cold drinks to wash off the heat of the lectures from their brains.
In one of the corners of the sitting area, two students could be seen talking to each other.
From their looks, they looked quite similar, though there was still a difference between them, as one of them was a boy with a huge build while the other was a girl, who though not as huge as the boy could still be considered quite well built by her physique.
Both of them had similar-looking grey hair, which could be considered a speciality of the werewolves.
"Are you sure you would be okay with it? Or should I partner with you—"
"I am not a little girl anymore, so could you please stop treating me like one."
Interrupting her brother, Samara dug her face into her hands out of the sheer embarrassment that her brother was making her go through.
It had been the twentieth time that he had asked her the same question.
"I know you are all grown up now, but still... I don’t want you to score poorly in the assignment."
"..."
Though her brother’s words were filled with worry, Samara couldn’t help but facepalm herself.
There was a difference between worrying about her and being overprotective in his worry, and her brother was clearly taking the second path.
"What use would it be if the two of us partnered up?"
"That—"
"Brother, this assignment is meant for us to learn more with the help of our seniors, so please let’s just do that."
Samara purposefully made her eyes wide enough to make her brother understand that she didn’t want to discuss anything related to it again.
And maybe he did get the hint, as he just shrugged his shoulders before turning his head away in a pout.
Samara couldn’t help but chuckle at her brother’s act—
"Seems like the two of you are enjoying the time of your life."
Someone whispered from behind them, making Samara startled.
