The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss

Chapter 313: Poor Soul [2]

Walking towards one of the benches in the sitting area meant for students to relax, I could clearly see the werewolf twins chatting amongst themselves.

With their grey hair and strong builds, it was easy to spot them.

Though I walked near them, the twins didn’t seem to notice my presence as they were engaged in some sort of serious conversation.

"I know you are all grown up now, but still... I don’t want you to score poorly in the assignment."

Hm?

I had always known that Jacob was highly protective of his sister, but wasn’t this too much?

"What use would it be if the two of us partnered up?"

"That—"

"Brother, this assignment is meant for us to learn more with the help of our seniors, so please let’s just do that."

Samara seemed like the sensible one among the two.

Still, even though she spoke in a serious tone, I couldn’t help but notice the embarrassment plastered over her entire face.

"Seems like the two of you are enjoying the time of your life."

Lowering my head a little, I gently whispered the words so as not to startle the two, but my actions seemed to have the reverse effect, as Samara jumped out of her seat in a heartbeat.

"What do you want?"

Before I could speak to the girl, her brother growled from the side, making me shake my head in disappointment.

Some people never really learnt the lesson... staying like animals till the end.

Though objectively speaking, their race was indeed the closest to what one could call a wild animal.

Blaming them for such things... for some reason it had begun to feel a little petty to me.

"Do I need a reason to visit my friends?"

Uttering the words in the most casual manner, I walked around the bench, before making myself comfortable just beside Jacob.

The twins observed my actions with scrutiny in their eyes, which was proof enough of their hostility towards me.

"I don’t remember having ever befriended you."

Though Jacob remained seated on his seat, I could notice him moving towards the edge so as to maintain a safe distance between us.

The beast was trying to prepare himself to fight me, something that I found amusing given how our last fight had ended.

"Did you contact your superiors?"

Though I could have played with him for some more time... I chose not to.

There was no need to unnecessarily agitate the guy more than his already destabilized state.

Just my mere presence was enough to turn on every cell of fighting spirit in his body.

"..."

Jacob just silently stared at me without giving a response.

"Superiors?"

Well, at least someone was polite enough to respond to my words.

"Samara—"

"The people that your brother works for."

After our last conversation I thought, Jacob would have at least revealed some information to his sister, but that didn’t seem to be the case.

The girl... Samara, was it?

She now had her eyes focused on her brother with a questioning gaze.

"You didn’t tell her?"

Adding a little fuel to the fire, I turned to look at Jacob, who clenched his teeth in frustration as he met my gaze with clear hostility in his eyes.

"You might have been mistaken, but my brother stays in the academy for the entire day, so there is no time for him to work for others."

Though Samara didn’t seem to know the details of what I was talking about, she still defended her brother as if it was an obvious thing to do.

Defended might not have been the right word, as the girl simply clarified the situation, but—

"I thought twins were like two parts of the same soul, but looking at you guys... it doesn’t seem to be the case."

"..."

"..."

My statement made Samara raise her brows in confusion.

"I haven’t told them anything."

Hm?

I thought he was going to remain secretive before his sister.

Well, it didn’t really matter to me.

"So, can I take that as a sign of you being willing to hear my offer?"

Seeing Jacob’s positive response, I immediately got to the main point.

"I never said I was interested in discussing anything with you."

Sigh.

Fair enough.

This guy hadn’t fully embraced the cult, which was why he might not have told them about me.

That was a detail that had slipped my mind, but it wasn’t like the situation was that bad.

"Should I educate her on the information that she might not know about you?"

If the brother wasn’t willing to do things the easy way, then I had no choice but to involve his sister.

"I don’t wish to hear anything from you."

Hm?

Before I could say anything, Samara appeared between me and Jacob, as she stared down at me with narrowed eyes.

"Are you sure?"

"I am."

Though I could clearly see the hints of curiosity in her eyes... the girl still tried her best to stand with her brother, even without knowing what we were discussing.

A good sister indeed.

"Had you heard about the recent attacks by the cults—"

"Kael! Let’s discuss your offer later on."

Jacob interrupted me while standing behind Samara.

His earlier brave face now showed signs of anxiety, though I wasn’t one to care for it.

"I hope you can take out some time from your schedule... right now."

No matter what, things had to go according to my wishes.

Jacob was in no position to dictate the terms of his... service to me.

My words seemed to have put the guy in an awkward phase, as Samara had turned to look at him, her eyes asking him to explain the situation.

"How about you return to your dorm? I promise I will explain everything to you."

Jacob’s eyes wavered a bit, as he uttered the words, which felt like a desperate request.

People that cared for their family were kind of weak, and that was clearly visible by looking at the kids before me.

In normal circumstances, their sense of logic and actions would have been far more composed, but right now, neither of them seemed to be thinking straight.

I didn’t even have to manipulate them, as Jacob, despite his initial stubbornness, was quick to erase his non-cooperative attitude the moment I mentioned the cults.
