Chapter 204: Summoner and Summons
Chapter 204: Summoner and Summons
He turned to the assassins standing behind him.
"Move the soldiers and the mages to our underground dungeon." Jack ordered them efficiently.
This was not a magical, monster-spawning dungeon like the one that Adrian had control over. This was basically just a cold prison. It was a fortified underground holding facility that the assassins used for interrogations and after asking Adrian if they could get one built, it was instantly approved.
The assassins immediately slung their rifles over their shoulders and got to work hauling the paralyzed bodies away.
Octavia and the other four teens just stood near the trees and kept strict watch over the entire operation. They stood there to make sure that if anyone managed to get through the paralysis, they could immediately put them right back into it.
It took the assassins a few hours to haul all seven hundred heavy bodies out of the forest and down into the holding cells.
And once the massive moving operation was finally done, Jack walked over and looked at the five teens.
"Lord Adrian is going to love this when he gets back." Jack wiped the sweat off his forehead and flashed a wide grin.
The other five just gave him a quiet nod.
"He will."
Back near the northern battlefield, a few days before the wall got hit.
The monster dungeon entrance sat hidden deep inside the northern woods.
It was just a dark little cave carved right into the side of a rocky mountain. But a giant oval rock rested perfectly inside the mouth of the opening. The smooth stone stood almost ten feet tall and basically blocked up half the tunnel.
And standing quietly near this towering stone were four people.
One of them was Wang Lei. The guy looked like a totally average human. He had on some weird clothes that definitely did not match anything from this era.
And the second person standing there looked mostly human too. Except for one glaring difference, which was her ears. They were slightly longer than a normal human’s, and they elongated diagonally upwards toward the back of her skull. The extra length of these pointed ears was not too extreme. It was just an extra two inches.
Anyone who’d lay an eye on her, would call her an elf.
But then there were two more people standing nearby who looked incredibly similar to her. And these two looked mostly like humans too.
And again, there were only a few distinct physical differences. But compared to Wang Lei and the regular Elf, these two were much much taller. Their height easily went past eight feet tall.
And their ears were different too. Unlike the standard Elf, who had her ears pointing diagonally upwards, these two massive figures had ears that extended completely out to the side. Just the top, pointed cartilage part of their ears extended horizontally outward.
These two towering figures were Vaelin and Ilyndra. They were pure High Elves.
The Elf girl looked away from the oval rock and glared at the other three.
"These northern people have gotten huge reinforcements." she hissed angrily. "And they are using advanced combination magic to deal with the monster horde. We need to do something to get past this issue!"
Wang Lei stepped forward eagerly.
"I can help." Wang Lei promised quickly. "We can just gather more monsters with my blessing, and then we can attack them again with overwhelming numbers."
All the anger vanished right off the Elf girl’s face. She reached out and touched his cheek.
"This is why I love you so much." she hummed. "You always support me."
Wang Lei practically melted into her palm. He leaned his weight against her hand and gave her this massive, dumb smile.
"Of course." Wang Lei vowed happily. "I will do anything for my love."
The Elf pulled her hand away and shot a cold, furious glare at Vaelin and Ilyndra.
"Can’t you two just use your advanced magic to break the wall?" she demanded angrily. "You already refused to help us fight. But right now we are facing a lot of problems! We were doing incredibly well at breaking their forces down until recently. But once this lowly human leader managed to get those heavily armed reinforcements from within his empire, it has not been going well for us at all. Our last big attack was a complete, humiliating failure. We could not even kill one single soldier on that wall."
Vaelin stared down at her like she was a piece of chewed gum he had accidentally stepped on.
"Why would we ever lift a finger for a defect like you?" Vaelin sneered coldly.
Ilyndra crossed her long, elegant arms and scoffed. "Yeah. Why should we work for a genetic defect?"
The Elf girl’s face twisted into a vicious scowl almost instantly.
"I am your summoner!" she shrieked right up at the tall High Elves. "And it was entirely because of you prideful idiots that we even ended up cursed! It is entirely because you arrogant fools got cursed by the Demons during the ancient war that we lesser Elves must live such a lowly, pathetic life nowadays! The World Tree does not even connect its roots to us anymore! We are a completely different, degraded species from you purely because of your stupid mistake!"
She pointed a shaking finger at Vaelin.
"So you either correct your past mistakes willingly by helping me right now," she threatened viciously. "Or I am going to forcefully command you to do it! Because I am your contracted master! And I am the one who summoned you! How does it feel to be magically bound slaves to a defect? Huh?!"
Vaelin and Ilyndra glared right back down at her. They looked ready to kill her on the spot.
"Yeah. We definitely need to fix our old mistakes." Vaelin growled, but his tone was ice cold and full of venom. "But that does not change the simple fact that you are nothing but a pathetic defect."
