Chapter 479: Manaless Regeneration?

Seeing this incredible display of raw piercing power, all of the tribesmen standing behind the leader gasped loudly.

"Whoa!"

The leader of the tribe nodded in pure satisfaction.

Adrian just looked at him with an challenging smirk.

"Why don’t you throw your own spear now? I am curious about how strong that thing can be. Don’t worry. If it shatters or breaks on impact, I will fix it for you for free."

Seeing Adrian offering to fix it, the tribal leader didn’t hesitate at all.

He picked up his crude iron spear, did the exact same movements, and launched the spear straight forward.

This single test showed a clear difference in quality.

The crude iron spear did, in fact, lodge into the tree, but it was nowhere near the steel one when it came to raw piercing power. The steel one had gone pretty deep into the tree trunk, while the iron-tipped spear was pretty much shallow in comparison.

Seeing this massive gap in quality, the tribal leader nodded in understanding. He pulled both spears out of the tree and walked back.

He looked closely at Adrian.

"What do you want for exchange?"

Adrian smiled.

"What I need is knowledge. I want you to teach me exactly what you know. How you use the mana, how you hunt and everything else your tribe has learned."

The tribesman frowned slightly.

"Why would you want to learn our methods? Don’t you have your own methods?" He pointed at the steel weapons on the table. "If you have such good weapons, then there is no way that you don’t have your own way to fight."

"Well, I do," Adrian said smoothly. "But what is wrong with wanting to learn more? And it is not exactly like we are enemies, right? I am not going to be using your own secrets against you. I am here from a faraway place strictly to learn and accumulate knowledge."

Hearing the explanation, the tribal leader nodded. He just thought about it for a while before he finally made up his mind.

"Okay. We can teach you our methods. But you need to tell us clearly what you want. We don’t mind sharing knowledge."

Adrian grinned widely.

"That is great. I just wanted a local guide, or someone who knows a decent amount about the surrounding tribes nearby, so that I can learn multiple things."

Hearing this, the tribal leader nodded.

"Sure. I know a few neighboring tribes. Specifically, there are two tribes that are very much going in a different direction when it comes to their development."

Adrian frowned. "What do you mean?"

The guy crossed his arms.

"I will tell you once you are done giving my tribe the things you have. Based on how much you give, the amount of knowledge I will share will be directly dependent on it."

Seeing this entirely transactional approach, Adrian chuckled. "Okay, sure. Everything on this wooden table is completely free to take."

The tribal leader looked back at his own people.

"Take what you want."

The people immediately rushed over, looking incredibly excited. They didn’t exactly hold back either. They literally took every single thing, quickly clearing out the weapons, armor, food, and potions, leaving the massive table completely empty by the end.

Adrian just chuckled at the sight.

"Wow. You guys literally took everything."

The tribesman smirked.

"Well, that just means you will get more knowledge from me."

Adrian nodded in agreement. "Yes. I want more knowledge. What exactly can you tell me? The last tribe I visited told me they only go out for massive big hunts right after the rain. I just wanted to know if you guys do things differently."

The tribe leader gave a firm nod. "Well, before I get to that, let me introduce myself properly. I am Tiger. Everyone in the tribe calls me Tiger, and I am the strongest warrior on the entire island."

Adrian raised an eyebrow.

"Wait, seriously? That is something I did not expect."

Tiger grinned proudly. "Well, no one does. Not until I beat them black and blue. But of course, our tribe is one that does not actively provoke others. We are a peaceful tribe, and we strictly mind our own business, as long as others don’t try to go against us."

"That is great. That is a good way of going around various things. So what exactly do you have for me?" Adrian asked as he looked at Tiger and Tiger crossed his arms again.

"Well, firstly, we also mostly go for massive big game hunting right after the rains. But we also do a few dangerous hunts when it doesn’t entirely rain too, just to basically test ourselves. In fact, we have a tradition of fighting specifically when there is a rain."

Adrian was curious now.

"Wait, why do you fight when there is a rain?"

"Well, it is because of this," Tiger said casually.

He lifted the steel-tipped spear he had kept for himself. Without any hesitation, he used the sharp steel tip to cut into his own palm.

Blood instantly flowed even thought the cut was shallow. But then, right in front of Adrian’s eyes, the wound visibly started to heal.

There was one thing to note though. The healing speed was pretty fast when compared to a regular human, but when compared to high-circle magic or even Hugo’s capabilities of healing, it was pretty much slow.

But it didn’t change the fact that the healing was pretty fast.

Tiger looked at Adrian proudly.

"This thing happens without the use of our own internal mana reserves. We fight big animals and dangerous monsters specifically when it is raining so that when we get open wounds and heavy bruises, we have our way to absorb the mana from the rain directly into our bodies whenever the raindrops fall onto us."

He clenched his still healing fist.

"And using that, we form a natural cycle. We know how to use the mana from the rain directly from our open wounds and bruises. And then whenever we use our ancestral technique of absorbing this mana, our bodies naturally develop a higher level of physical regeneration."
