The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 294: Beast Tide Overwhelms Licorice Camp, Who is the Strongest Level 3 Wizard Apprentice?
The clenching of his other hand showed that Kaze Antuun was anything but calm.
Wang Ya’s words were a tacit admission.
‘You have to be kidding me.’
‘I’ve never heard anything about Wang Ya Harak raising a Beast King.’
‘That unremarkable crow had only shown a few Special Abilities during the Secret Realm competition. At best, it seemed like a Middle-tier, maybe High-tier, Extraordinary Creature.’
‘How could it possibly have been raised to the level of a Beast King in just ten short years…? It’s unbelievable, a complete defiance of logic.’
‘Just how many more secrets is Wang Ya Harak hiding?!’
Daben remained hesitant. “Even if this little crow is a Beast King, Extraordinary Creatures are generally no match for a Wizard. Is it truly enough?”
Kaze Antuun clapped him on the shoulder and sent a message with his Extraordinary Spiritual Power.
Only then did the other man manage to suppress the hesitation on his face.
Kaze Antuun stared at Wang Ya. He had to admit, more often than not, Wang Ya Harak accomplished what he set out to do.
The Antuun Clan had no reason to doubt such an outstanding Child of the Dark.
As allies, it was only natural for them to be on the same side.
…..
Four Flying Griffins tore through the sky and clouds, trailing turbulent air as they vanished over the horizon.
They flew higher than ever before, allowing the Flying Griffins to maintain their top Speed.
Having made the journey once before, the group was familiar with the route to Licorice Camp.
Kelan Wizard’s Flying Griffin flew parallel to Wang Ya’s. She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and said with a meaningful look, “Little Junior Brother, that Beast King of yours… it seems there’s more to it than meets the eye.”
She transmitted the rest of her words using her Extraordinary Spiritual Power.
‘I can’t see its true nature. The Dream Power is so dense, and its aura feels so strongly of the Dream World, I’d believe you if you told me it was a Dream Creature. But it exists here in reality, without any of the spatial fluctuations that Dream Creatures have. What’s going on with it?’
The confusion on Kelan Wizard’s face was genuine, as was the bewilderment in her heart.
She had few interests, but the study of the Dream World was one of them.
Wang Ya, wearing a white mask patterned with a blooming lotus, replied via Spiritual Power as well: ‘That’s a little secret. But once we’re at Licorice Camp, Senior Sister, you’ll be able to figure it out for yourself.’
Kelan Wizard smiled with understanding and didn’t press the matter further.
As the sun set, the number of Wizards bustling about Licorice Camp began to dwindle, though the market area remained crowded.
The camp’s Law Enforcement Wizards were making their final patrol. By the time they looped from the entrance to the market area, the sun had completely disappeared, and moonlight washed over the land.
Komore stood at the very top of the Circular Tower, his gaze fixed on the distant night sky. A cold wind whipped at his robes and tossed his golden hair, his face etched with a hint of melancholy.
He was only human, after all, with his own emotions and worries.
Even as he steeled himself to continue waiting.
‘The fifth Black Sun Badge… who knows when I’ll ever find it. Just as Qiudongqiu said, the Wizard Continent is so vast. The chances are just too slim.’
He had grown accustomed to standing here, gazing at the night sky, letting the cold wind blow over him. It seemed to stir memories of his time at the Black Tower, which now surfaced in his mind.
‘A touch of loneliness, a hint of sorrow… I was born in the Black Tower, I lived in the Black Tower, yet I was forced to leave my home for this remote Outer Zone, this Separation Land.’
‘What was it all for? Was it really worth it?!’
As Komore’s thoughts drifted, Qiudongqiu’s words surfaced in his mind, along with her exquisitely beautiful yet sorrow-filled face.
He had failed her in so many ways.
TZZT!
A subtle, sharp pain radiated from the depths of his mind, and his pupils contracted instantly. All those thoughts were violently purged, replaced by sheer fury.
It was one of the life-saving trump cards his clan had prepared for him—a defense against mental and psychic influences.
It could only be triggered once a day, and only passively.
Komore had no control over it, but its activation was what made him realize why he’d been having such strange thoughts. A resentful, lingering fear crept onto Komore’s face. ‘When did I become a target? Are Victor and the Oby Brothers dead or something?’
‘Damn it!’
A powerful wave of Particle Energy erupted from his body, sweeping in all directions. His Biological Force Field rapidly expanded, leaving visible, fluid-like ripples in the air.
It instantly encompassed a sixty-meter radius.
The Biological Force Field of an average Level 3 Wizard Apprentice extends about thirty meters, but his could reach a limit of eighty.
He was the Black Tower’s most outstanding and powerful Level 3 Wizard Apprentice.
Comoro Sack was confident he could hold his own, even against an Extreme Wizard Apprentice.
He was sure that Victor and the others would sense the fluctuation in his Particle Energy and rush over immediately.
VMMMM!
A low hum vibrated through the air. The entire Circular Tower seemed to warp, its physical form becoming distorted. Everything was outlined by twisting, colorful lines that looked as if they could tear it all apart at any second.
For instance, a pair of thirty-meter-large hands, glowing with a white sheen, condensed out of the Void. Even the fine lines on their palms were clearly visible.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Komore’s pupils reflected the giant hands as they grew larger and larger, until they completely overshadowed the platform of the Circular Tower.
“‘My Biological Force Field isn’t detecting anything, and my Extraordinary Spiritual Power can’t find anyone. Did these hands just materialize out of thin air? Is this some kind of Space Witchcraft? Or am I hallucinating? Is something wrong with me?'”
