The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

Chapter 308: Eye of Truth's Clean Sweep, Rules, and the Book of All Things

  • Next Chapter

He took off the White Lotus Mask. A fine, deep blue light glinted in his pupils as his Eye of Truth operated at full power. He had even temporarily halted his analysis of the Evil God’s Heart and the subsequent runes of the Dream-Recalling Meditation Method.

The bookshelves were enveloped in a Witch Array. He could only take out one book at a time to read, and it had to be returned to the shelf before he could retrieve another.

It was as if the Black Sun Wizard’s mischievous voice echoed in Wang Ya’s ears. ‘So you want my inheritance? It’s all yours, provided you have the ability to take it. You have one month. Let’s see how much you can copy from these ten rows of Witch Books.’

This trial was no less difficult than the one to find and gather the five Black Sun Badges.

To enter a Treasure Mountain but be unable to take all its treasures would be incredibly frustrating for anyone.

In such a situation, it would be easy to lose one’s composure, resulting in meager gains or, at best, some trivial pieces of Extraordinary Knowledge.

Only a Wizard who could maintain their Wizard’s Heart, understand their own needs, and accurately locate what they truly desired among the ten rows of shelves would be able to reap significant rewards.

This was likely the nature of the Black Sun Wizard’s test.

‘I guess the inheritances for other levels must also have numerous trials.’

The Black Sun Inheritance was not so easily obtained. It all depended on whether the others could grasp the opportunity.

Big Ben Antuun sneezed but paid it no mind. His eyes were bloodshot, and he stared fervently at everything before him.

‘The Black Sun Wizard’s inheritance… he wanted it all.’

…..

However, the Black Sun Wizard had likely never imagined that Wang Ya possessed an absurd ability like the Eye of Truth. It could directly record the contents of the books and store them in his mind’s memory banks or within the Eye of Truth’s own algorithmic database.

Ordinary Wizards would be under immense pressure when reading Extraordinary Books. The recorded text itself carried an extraordinary weight. This was especially true for more profound Extraordinary Knowledge. Low-tier Wizards couldn’t even withstand the mental strain of reading them, which would result in their minds falling into disarray.

Throughout history, there have been more than a few fortunate Little Wizards who obtained High-tier Witch Books, only to read them rashly and become puppets of the knowledge within, causing considerable harm.

The Eye of Truth was completely immune to this effect.

「29 days later.」

Wang Ya set down the book in his hand and pressed the space between his eyebrows. His eyes were bloodshot. Even for a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, going so long without rest placed him under an intense strain.

Fortunately, he had prepared some Dream Creatures. Eating them helped alleviate the fatigue.

With only one day left in the month, his gains had been substantial.

Roughly eight of the ten rows of books on the shelves were now stored in the Eye of Truth’s algorithmic database.

Judging by the faint stinging sensation in his pupils, the Eye of Truth was, as expected, about to undergo another transformation.

And this transformation would be significant. After all, this was the Extraordinary inheritance of a Level 3 Wizard. The most profound parts were not much weaker than what was found in the Dark Land’s Land of Inheritance.

Some parts were even more profound, representing directions of research and knowledge that the Land of Inheritance had never touched upon.

The Witch Books on these ten shelves alone could be used to establish a powerful Wizard Influence, one no weaker than that of the Dark Land. This was no exaggeration; it was a genuine possibility.

“The Nature and Transformation of Black Sun Particle Energy.” “Insights on Breaking Through to Extreme Wizard Apprentice.” “Three Methods for Achieving Perfect Balance.”

These were perhaps Wang Ya’s greatest gains, and they weren’t topics covered in just a few Witch Books, but across an entire row of them.

A mortal couldn’t possibly read, let alone understand, so many books in a single lifetime.

He had also made another, more peculiar discovery.

It concerned a record of information found inside a sealed box on the desk.

Upon opening it, he found what appeared to be a journal, made from a special Extraordinary Sheepskin Scroll and perfectly preserved.

It detailed the Black Sun Wizard’s research in his later years. He had become almost obsessed with tracking down any trace of the Deep Blue Great Wizard. He scoured the Wizard Continent, visiting wondrous and bizarre lands to observe them firsthand, and he pursued every piece of information and every legend related to the Deep Blue Great Wizard.

The subject of his research and observation was deeply connected to the path beyond that of a Level 3 Wizard.

There were also some of the Black Sun Great Wizard’s scattered notes and jottings.

“I have already seen the path forward. The third stage of the Unity of Spirit and Body is not the limit. Advancing to a Level 4 Wizard requires pushing the Unity of Spirit and Body to its extreme and then undergoing a further transformation.”

“The Deep Blue Great Wizard is a true genius. Inside the wondrous and bizarre lands, there exists a power that even Level 3 Wizards cannot comprehend. It is the essence of a special power from a higher level. That is why the Land of Snakes can alter forms, changing everything into snakes.”

“I considered entering the Land of Snakes. It probably couldn’t kill me, nor could it turn me into a snake, but I lacked the courage. It’s too insane. I can’t find the path to becoming a Level 4 Wizard by courting death, but through lengthy research and testing, I have seen the way forward regardless. This is hardly an obstacle for a genius like me.”

“Unbelievable. The transformation, the Sublimation beyond the extreme… it’s actually like this… To possess an undying property… could this be the ‘Rule’ the Deep Blue Great Wizard spoke of…”

“Wait, I’ve found some clues regarding the Deep Blue Great Wizard’s secrets… He’s too mysterious. He seems to have been active on the Wizard Continent, but in truth, no Wizard has ever left a concrete record of seeing him… Perhaps these wondrous phenomena are places where the Deep Blue Great Wizard buried the power of Level 4, or even Level 5 Wizards, thereby creating them… What could his purpose be? This is far from simple. I feel as though I’ve stumbled upon a shocking secret.”

“The Deep Blue Great Wizard possesses a Book of All Things, which contains a vast amount of Rule Power… My time is running out. I’ve wasted too much of it on other paths. Modifying my body to cling to life like some piece of trash is utterly humiliating. I refuse to become one of those disgusting old monsters I so despise… I must find the Book of All Things, devour the Rules within, and advance to become a Level 4 Wizard… Only the extreme can evolve, bear, and devour Rules. Failure is a possibility, but I have no other choice.”

“The various wondrous phenomena seem to be connected in some way, but my Power is still too weak to discover anything more. Where in the world is the Book of All Things? I risked entering Demon Mountain and still found nothing. Damn it…”

Wang Ya closed the journal, his eyes flickering. He was utterly shaken.

‘So this was the Black Sun Wizard’s research in his final years, and the reason he died of old age.’

‘No, the notes didn’t say any more. Perhaps the Black Sun Wizard died while exploring those wondrous phenomena.’

‘Advancing from a Level 3 Wizard to a Level 4 Wizard is actually related to Rules… Devouring Rules…’ Wang Ya subconsciously glanced at his red metal ring. He possessed two Abnormal Items that seemed to have some connection to Rules…

‘The Book of All Things!’ The most profound scene Wang Ya had ever witnessed in the Gendas Evil God’s memories surfaced in his mind—an image that was now unforgettable.

A figure in a Blue Wizard Robe, their face obscured, held a book-like object. They opened its pages and brutally suppressed even a Level 6 Great Wizard, crushing the very Rules.

‘That book… it seemed to be the Book of All Things.’

Wang Ya took a deep breath. ‘This secret is really something else.’

However, all of this was still too far off for him. He would need to become an Official Wizard, or achieve even greater Power, before he could even qualify to get involved.

He went back to taking Witch Books from the shelves and recording their contents.

Time was tight. Not a single second could be wasted.

Because these were high-level Extraordinary Witch Books, the Eye of Truth took much longer to record them.

If these had been books from the second floor of the Library, he could have finished not just ten rows, but a hundred rows of them in a month.

Wang Ya had also located the Level 3 Sublimation Witchcraft Artifact, the ‘True Yang Lock,’ but he had given up on the idea of going after it.

From outside the Black Sun Tower, one could look up and see a colossal, rusted black chain extending from the top, connecting to the Black Sun in the sky. Its branching chains were wrapped around it, appearing to have locked the Black Sun in place.

It was simply impossible to obtain.

Wang Ya knew his own limits. These Extraordinary Witch Books were what was most important.
