The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 309: Visitor from the Black Tower, Substitute Trope
A teleportation force enveloped Wang Ya. The Witch Book in his hand vanished, reappearing in its original spot on the bookshelf.
The month was up.
A flicker of regret passed through Wang Ya’s eyes. He was two rows of bookshelves shy of finishing the *Travel Logs of the Black Sun Wizard*, which detailed the Wizard’s various experiences traveling the Wizard Continent.
Although it wasn’t Extraordinary Knowledge in the conventional sense, the experience of a Level 3 Great Wizard traveling the Wizard Continent was incredibly difficult to come by.
If Wang Ya were to travel the Wizard Continent in the future, that experience would be invaluable.
Outside the Black Sun Ruins, the four figures appeared at nearly the same moment. Spatial ripples began to form, spreading out like waves and swallowing the entire square-shaped ruin.
The instant the square ruin vanished completely, five dark beams of light transformed into streaking meteors and shot off in every direction.
Big Ben Antuun attempted to intercept them, but he was nowhere near fast enough to catch the streaks of light. He could only watch helplessly as the keys to the Black Sun Ruins flew into the distance.
The five Black Sun Badges would scatter to the various corners of the Wizard Continent, perhaps to be gathered again centuries or millennia from now.
However, their next location would not be in the Separation Land.
After merging into the Void, the Black Sun Ruins would migrate along with the turning of space itself. As for where it would migrate to, no one could possibly know.
On the Black Sun Badges, the location of the true ruin would shift along with it, while the location of the false ruin would remain fixed. This would continue until the ruin fully stabilized.
“Damn it. If I’d been just a little faster, I could’ve grabbed a Black Sun Badge.” Big Ben Antuun sighed, clearly frustrated. “A month was far too short for the Blood Wizard inheritance I chose. I only managed to master a few key Extraordinary Witch Books. There’s so much Extraordinary Knowledge I couldn’t get to… what a waste.”
Kaze Antuun and the Kelan Wizard could understand Big Ben Antuun’s feelings.
They all faced the same situation.
The inherited knowledge was immense and overwhelmingly complex, covering everything from Wizard Apprentice to Official Wizard. In one month, forget about gaining any real comprehension; just recording the information had consumed all of their time and energy.
They hadn’t even dared to sleep or rest. Dark circles rimmed everyone’s eyes, and their pupils were laced with bloodshot veins.
But the smiles on their faces proved they had all gained something and were quite satisfied with it.
The Three-headed Flying Griffin broke through the clouds, heading for the Dark Land. Only Wang Ya remained behind after giving his reasons.
…
In the ruins of Licorice Camp, residual Energy Flames hissed and sizzled. Charred marks, rubble, and broken tiles were strewn everywhere.
A Flying Griffin flapped its wings impatiently, stirring up a gale as if trying to blow away the scorching heat.
Wang Ya gazed at the five figures lying before him, his eyes glinting. The idea in his mind grew more intense.
‘The goal of my Black Sun plan has been achieved, but the loose ends must be dealt with.’
Harak stared at Wang Ya with its tri-colored gray, white, and black pupils. Upon receiving the command, it spread its wings. A large amount of viscous black liquid coalesced, forming five black tentacles that shot out and pierced the necks of the Oby Brothers, Victor, and Komore.
As the tentacles pulsed, some foreign substance seemed to flow into the five bodies.
Black scars spread out from the wounds, creeping across their bodies until they were completely covered. The process took an hour to ensure no flaws were left.
Now came the most troublesome part.
‘Although the Bacteriophage can infect and control living beings, it can’t control those with powerful consciousness and Spiritual Power.’
‘Extraordinary Creatures are quite weak in this regard, so they fall under Harak’s complete control.’
‘But Wizards possess Extraordinary Spiritual Power, especially strong-willed ones like Komore. Control via Bacteriophage infection isn’t foolproof.’
Wang Ya wasn’t arrogant enough to believe Harak’s method of infection couldn’t be broken.
‘After all, the Black Tower is a Wizard Influence from the Inner Zone. They have a Level 3 Great Wizard.’
‘Their methods are likely beyond my comprehension.’
He placed his right hand on Komore’s cheek. Dream Power surged, and a white light spread up his arm. With a gentle pull, Wang Ya tore Komore’s Soul Body from his physical form.
Harak opened its beak and inhaled sharply. Any Soul Body that entered its Infinite Black Core would become a Black Soul, forever unable to escape its control.
Even if Harak were to be killed, the Infinite Core would collapse along with it, and all the Black Souls would perish.
「Three days later.」
Komore’s Black Soul floated before Wang Ya, who smiled faintly.
‘The modification was a complete success. To be on the safe side, I even used Dream Witchcraft to further alter the Black Soul’s memories and add some hidden contingency measures.’
‘By infusing my own Soul Power into it, I can subtly alter the Black Soul over time, eventually devouring it completely and turning it into one of my soul clones.’
‘It will perfectly inherit his memories and mannerisms.’
‘Of course, the process is an extremely lengthy one.’
‘If Komore behaves, I won’t need to take that final step.’
This solved the problem of any future trouble, while also giving Wang Ya an agent to infiltrate the Black Tower—a sleeper agent he might never even need to use.
Wang Ya smiled and snapped his fingers.
Komore opened his eyes. The moment he saw Wang Ya, he froze, his expression turning murderous as he instantly activated the Particle Energy in his body.
Wang Ya was left speechless.
‘Does this guy still not understand the situation?’
The hand, cloaked in Ten Thousand Tribulations Particle Energy, froze the instant before it could pierce Wang Ya’s throat, stopping a mere thirty centimeters away.
