The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 327: Wang Ya vs. Duoguyin, Dominant Suppression
The Wizard shopkeeper, however, couldn’t manage a smile. Instead, a feeling of utter despair washed over him, and he began to panic.
All because the masked Wizard from the Dark Land had spoken a single sentence.
Wang Ya slowly approached Hank, his figure flickering in and out of view. His voice echoed throughout the shop. “Your words will bring disaster upon yourself. The second tenet of the Wizard’s nature states that you must be able to bear the consequences of your actions. Unfortunately for you, you cannot.”
“The rules are the rules and must be strictly enforced. You attempted to storm a Wizard Shop. The sentence is the permanent loss of your right legs.”
Wang Ya’s eyes were cold and indifferent. His body seemed to step into the void, slowly phasing through the crowd.
The shopkeeper Wizard looked at Hank and his men, his expression so savage he looked like he could eat them alive. He was utterly terrified, but all he could do was watch helplessly as Wang Ya’s figure melted into the void.
“No, what are you trying to do?! Do you want to violate the rules?! It’s your right legs that should be forfeit… No… Stay back…”
…
This was merely a minor interlude.
Rules weren’t set in stone; they could be interpreted and applied in many ways.
Wang Ya’s figure materialized from the void. The cloak that allowed him to travel through shadows slowly retracted, becoming a small flap on the back of his Shadow Robe.
His philosophy regarding the rules of the Dark Land was to enforce what he could personally witness.
What he couldn’t see, he didn’t worry about.
As for being as strict as Wizard Yi Si—to an almost pathological degree—he didn’t support it, but he did respect it.
Just as Wizard Yi Si said, the rules were the rules. Any violation had to be punished, regardless of one’s identity or status.
This was a mandate that every Wizard in the Dark Land had to obey.
It had to be admitted that the enforcement of these rules provided greater security for the mortals within the Dark Land’s borders.
At the same time, it gave Wizards of common birth a genuine path to advance, allowing the Dark Land to maintain a constant influx of new talent and relative internal stability.
Wang Ya’s gaze fell upon the massive, magnificent city wall before him. The wall of the inner city was even taller and thicker than the outer one.
It seemed to be reinforced by some kind of Witch Array.
Wang Ya frowned. The Teleportation Array was located near the City Lord’s Mansion, at the very core of the inner city. ‘To think it could be breached.’
The City Defense Witch Array could unleash Witchcraft Attacks on par with a typical Extreme Wizard Apprentice.
In a critical moment, it could even deploy a Particle Energy Shield on par with an Official Wizard’s to protect the City Lord’s Mansion, both inside and out.
Suddenly, Wang Ya’s gaze shifted to a part of the inner city. He saw a transparent ripple expanding outward, forming a hemispherical, high-frequency Particle Shield.
He narrowed his eyes. It seemed his guess had been correct.
‘Things have already gotten this serious.’
The Law Enforcement Wizards and the Wizards of the City Lord’s Mansion could only hole up inside the mansion.
This rippling effect meant the Witch Array Shield was being maintained at full power, consuming the maximum amount of Earth Vein Energy.
His eyes glinted as he pondered something, and his figure once again sank into the void.
As he mastered the creation of Burning Silence Particle Energy, his use of the Illusory Body had grown more and more proficient. He had even used his Celestial Fire Illusion Body to develop a new Combined Witchcraft.
…
Outside the City Lord’s Mansion, a large number of Wizards had gathered. They were relentlessly attacking the transparent, undulating Ripple Shield with Witchcraft.
Each Witchcraft Attack made the shield’s fluctuations more violent, yet it held firm. The rippling waves seemed to mock the Wizards for their weakness and incompetence.
This made the group of unidentified Wizards—all of whom were using the Face of Residual Dreams to conceal their identities and auras—grow increasingly anxious.
Out of sheer frustration, many began to unleash their most powerful Witchcraft.
Massive fluctuations of Particle Energy collided. The unleashed Witchcraft spells intermingled, with some canceling each other out and imploding uselessly.
Most of the spells, however, merged under the control of their casters’ Particle Energy, forming a torrent of Witchcraft that crashed against the rippling curtain of light.
This impact caused the most violent fluctuation yet, the Shield threatening to flicker from transparent to solid. This sight filled the four Natural Tower Wizards observing from the shadows with anticipation.
Duoguyin silently devoured the corpses of the slain Wizards. She wore a loose, purple Wizard Robe, but from its cuffs extended two enormous tongues.
She approached from the other side of the street, her pace unhurried, giving the purple snake-head time to devour its meal.
The Wizards’ corpses were digested in the stomach of the purple snake-head—which was, in fact, her own stomach.
A surging heat washed through her, transforming into abundant Biological Energy. She almost couldn’t suppress a hoarse cry of pleasure.
Reaching the rooftop of a nearby building, she joined four other figures of varying heights and builds. Some stood with arms crossed, others with hands in their pockets, all of them overlooking the grand spectacle of countless Wizards assaulting the City Lord’s Mansion below.
Duoguyin walked over to them, her serpentine pupils scanning the scene below.
The torrent of Witchcraft was ultimately absorbed by the Witch Array Shield. Many of the Wizards, having exhausted their Particle Energy, collapsed to the ground, panting heavily. Most of them had the Power of a Level 1 or Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.
“Another failure. It looks like this ambitious mob won’t be able to breach the City Lord’s Mansion.”
A skinny, short young man of about five feet, clad in a white Wizard Robe, curled his lip with a mocking expression.
