The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 330 Duoguyin's Shock, Wang Ya is Comparable to a Legendary Great Wizard
DRIP!
Blood dripped from Mo Kui’s hands as his boots trod across the blood-soaked ground. Behind him lay the mangled corpses of the Wizards he had slain, some of their bodies charred beyond recognition.
A Black Robe Wizard, his face twisted with malice, pressed his palms together. He expended eighty percent of his body’s Particle Energy to unleash a terrifying Fire Sun Star Witchcraft.
The scorching flames vaporized every drop of moisture in the street. Buildings on both sides exploded, sending rubble and splinters flying. The power of the blast reached the upper echelons of Middle-tier Witchcraft.
His scarlet Artificial Eye locked onto the Witchcraft’s trajectory. The shadowy, mechanical Witchcraft construct on Mo Kui’s back rippled, unleashing a wave of chaotic particle fluctuations.
The moment the scorching Fire Element Witchcraft neared him, it dispersed into harmless residual particles.
HUMMM!
As if demonstrating a mastery of air vibrations, an invisible force struck the Black Robe Wizard, cutting his scream short.
Stray sparks singed his eyebrows, but Mo Kui remained expressionless, his mechanical Artificial Eye icily cold. He stepped over the corpse at his feet, his gaze penetrating through buildings to find the Wizards hiding within.
He raised his hand. A slit opened in his palm, revealing a minuscule mechanical device. As particle waves were conducted from the energy core in his chest, the device flickered with fine arcs of electricity. Traces of conductive current appeared in the air, the positive electrical charge was thrown into chaos, and gravity itself was partially inverted, causing nearby dust to slowly float upward.
A cold smile touched his lips. The vibratory force spread through sound waves, cracking the ground and pulverizing the walls. The Wizard inside burst into a mist of blood with a wet ‘SPLAT.’
The Witch Array Shield protecting the City Lord’s Mansion had vanished. Blood streamed from within the building. Through the open gates, the bodies of Law Enforcement Wizards and City Lord Mansion Wizards were splayed across the ground.
Their faces were frozen in expressions of confusion and terror; they had been killed with almost no chance to resist.
Aiden glanced at the approaching Mo Kui, dropped the Wizard’s corpse he was holding, and flicked the blood from his hands.
“My side is clean, too,” Johnson said with a cough as he emerged from another street. His face was unnaturally flushed, and it seemed to be getting worse.
“Now we just wait for news from White Rat and Duoguyin.”
“Speaking of which, this Wang Ya Harak’s potential is terrifying. Rilis thought he could become the Natural Ring Tower’s biggest obstacle. Duoguyin won’t have any trouble, will she?”
Johnson pulled a white handkerchief from his sleeve and let out a hacking cough. When he pulled it away, it was stained with blood.
Aiden couldn’t help but laugh. “Rilis was defeated by a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice and failed her infiltration mission. If she didn’t spin it that way, her status as a Spirit of Nature would have been stripped from her long ago.”
“Not that we’re much better off. We’ve all been half-abandoned, forced to complete this Wizard Task with its ridiculously high mortality rate.”
“According to the information that personage gave us, Wang Ya Harak is a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, while Duoguyin is an Extreme Wizard Apprentice. That’s a gap that no amount of heritage or special Witchcraft can bridge.”
Mo Kui stated coldly, “According to the tactical analysis, the probability of a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice defeating an Extreme Wizard Apprentice is less than two percent. Duoguyin’s combat experience will reduce that to one percent.”
Johnson was just making small talk. Their patron had arranged everything, providing them with detailed intel on everything from the City Defense Witch Array to the internal situation of White Lake Wizard City.
Otherwise, even an Official Wizard would have to expend considerable time and effort to conquer a massive, thriving Wizard City like this one.
“Let’s go. Time to clean up. There are still plenty of greedy fools left in White Lake Wizard City. Since they chose to stay, they’ll have to pay the price.”
A cold, murderous intent gleamed in Aiden’s eyes.
….
Duoguyin emerged from the shadows of an alley, her purple lips curling into a mocking smile.
Watching the giant purple serpent devour its prey, she sneered, “Is that all? He couldn’t even react in time. For a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, he’s pathetic.”
“And to think Rilis made this guy sound so formidable. I actually thought he might give me a little surprise.”
Duoguyin felt a wave of disappointment. She had planned on torturing the man for a while before taking his head to Rilis as a gift.
Now, she couldn’t even be bothered.
‘Too weak. Too boring.’
Suddenly, she froze. She stared in astonishment as her giant purple serpent let out a pained howl. Her eyes widened, a flicker of excitement igniting within them. “Now this is more interesting!”
PSHHHT!
Black flames erupted from within the giant purple serpent, incinerating it and leaving not even a trace of material residue behind.
Duoguyin’s pupils contracted. The black flame coalesced into the shape of an illusory seed, which then sprouted and blossomed, unfurling its petals like a lotus. The sight was utterly bewitching and sinister.
‘What is this!’
‘Why does it fill me with such unease? It’s as if ultimate destructive power is hidden beneath its beauty.’
From the moment the black flame lotus bloomed, the light within the alley grew dimmer, as if it was being absorbed by the fiery blossom.
A sudden, heart-stopping premonition seized Duoguyin. Her body began to serpentinize, transforming into an eerie black shadow that slithered out from her robes. A concentrated beam of pitch-black particle waves pierced the spot where she had been standing. It was so fast that it struck the very instant she shed her clothes.
