Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 473 - 472: Jasper Rockwell, It Can’t Really Be...
"Are you sure you want to be Melody Monroe’s older brother?" Evan Fairchild asked again.
"If I can’t be her boyfriend, I guess I’ll have to be her brother."
"In that case, I’ll bring Melody Monroe over for a formal visit tomorrow to officially recognize the Rockwell Family as our kin. And for the Lunar New Year, don’t forget to come with your parents to pay respects at the Fairchild Estate."
Silas Rockwell’s smile froze on his face.
A scene immediately flashed through his mind.
’Melody Monroe would call him ’big brother,’ and then Evan Fairchild would call him ’big brother’ too. But his own father was of the same generation as Evan Fairchild! Wouldn’t that drag his father’s seniority down as well?’
’The Fairchild Family, with their standing, is especially particular about these things. When it came time for New Year’s visits, the family hierarchy would be an absolute mess!’
He couldn’t possibly take on the title of "big brother."
"A joke, it was just a joke," Silas Rockwell said quickly.
’For Evan Fairchild to say something like that, didn’t it mean his relationship with Melody Monroe was already official? That was fast! When it came to this stuff, Shawn Fisher was a real amateur.’
If Shawn Fisher knew what Silas Rockwell was thinking right now, he would definitely beat him up without a second thought.
Because he wasn’t an amateur.
His girl was just too young, and he’d been waiting for her to grow up for too long.
Suddenly, a cheer erupted from the racetrack, and everyone turned to look.
Jasper Rockwell had executed a series of high-difficulty maneuvers, and his performance was nothing short of perfect!
It was a heart-pounding sight for the spectators! They were terrified he would make a mistake. Even those who knew nothing about racing could tell how technical those moves were.
After a solid landing, he executed a stylish drift to bring the car to a perfect stop.
He couldn’t believe he’d actually pulled it off!
’It’s true what they say—you never know how good you are until you push yourself!’
Taking off his helmet, he immediately looked toward Zane Langdon. "Zane Langdon! How about that? I don’t need you to go easy on me! I can beat you all the same!"
"That set of moves you just did was too dangerous. Your skill level isn’t there yet. Do you have any idea what would have happened if you’d messed up?"
"Of course I do."
"Do you want the badge, or do you want your life?"
"I want both! I was confident I could do it." Jasper Rockwell walked toward Zane Langdon. "But hey, the pressure’s on you now!"
Zane Langdon turned his face away, not looking at him.
"Look at you!" Jasper Rockwell reached out and poked Zane Langdon in the chest. "With that stone-cold face of yours. If you’d just agreed, I wouldn’t have had to do that, right? You forced me to take that risky move. If I had crashed and been crippled, it would have been your fault."
Zane Langdon simply put his helmet back on, ignoring Jasper Rockwell.
’That feeling in his heart was getting stronger and stronger! Jasper Rockwell... could he really be...?’
Jasper Rockwell had just been trying to joke around and lighten the mood, but Zane Langdon’s attitude left him feeling completely snubbed.
’Why is Zane Langdon acting so weird today?’
’Could it be because of Melody Monroe?’
’Sigh, to have his heart broken before he even got started... that’s just too tragic. No wonder his expression is so sour. But Zane Langdon’s feelings were doomed to go nowhere from the start.’
’It was better to be free of it sooner rather than later.’
Zane Langdon delivered a stable performance. Compared to Jasper Rockwell’s moves, his was a bit more ordinary, but his handsome posture still drew screams from his fans.
The race ended, and Jasper Rockwell got the badge he so desired.
After receiving his award, Jasper Rockwell immediately scanned the crowd for Zane Langdon, only to find he had already disappeared.
"Have you seen Zane Langdon?" he asked, grabbing a staff member.
"Zane Langdon has already left."
"That guy is so petty! I beat him and he didn’t even say congratulations!"
’He just left like that? Didn’t we agree to go to the victory banquet together tonight?’
Jasper Rockwell put the badge away securely and headed for the lounge prepared by the event organizers.
