Evan Fairchild and the others were also shown into the lounge.

The moment Jasper Rockwell saw them, he flashed a medal. "What are you all doing here? Silas, I thought you and Dad were completely against me racing. Why would you come to watch my competition?"

’He’d only invited Melody!’

’Why were all these people here to join the spectacle?’

’Especially Evan Fairchild. Had he finally decided to come out of his shell?’

"I’m here to watch you get crippled. Preferably so badly that you can’t take care of yourself for the rest of your life."

"Are you sure you’re my real brother? I always get the feeling I was picked up from the trash," Jasper shot back.

"President Fairchild! Well, now, this is a surprise! You didn’t actually come to watch my race, did you?" Jasper couldn’t resist teasing him.

’Has he finally gotten a clue? Chasing someone all the way to the racetrack.’

’Don’t tell me he actually believed my brother was Melody’s rumored boyfriend? That must have given him a sense of crisis, huh?’

"Of course I’m not here to watch you race," Evan Fairchild said calmly. "I’m here to pick up my wife."

"Your wife? Your wife..." Jasper’s voice trailed off, his smile slowly freezing on his face as he glanced at Melody.

’Impossible, right?’

’How could that be possible!’

"The legal kind. Want me to show you the license?" Evan added.

At these words, it wasn’t just Jasper who was stunned—even Silas Rockwell and Shawn Fisher were taken aback.

’Shameless!’

’So unbelievably shameless!’

’A secret marriage!’

’Evan Fairchild had actually gone and gotten married behind their backs!’

But the one hit hardest by this critical blow was Jasper.

’Here he was, worrying himself sick over Evan, only to find out the guy had already secretly gotten married! Talk about moving at lightning speed!’

’And he hadn’t known a thing.’

’Wasn’t that just infuriating?’

’He felt like finding a bathroom to have a good cry!’

’How could this be happening?’

’How did a guy as romantically clueless as Evan Fairchild manage to land a wife?’

’He was sure he’d missed the most exciting part. The curiosity was eating him alive!’

Silas Rockwell marveled yet again. Evan Fairchild truly was in a class of his own. He had to hand it to him. Silas had been waiting to see how arduous Evan’s journey of wooing a wife would be, and here the man was, already at the finish line.

Shawn Fisher felt that he, too, was falling a bit behind when it came to romance.

’No! It was just because his girl was too young.’

’He refused to admit he was the one who was falling short.’

"Come on, let’s go somewhere else and have a victory party!" Jasper said to the group, still buzzing with excitement from winning his coveted medal.

"I’ll have to pass." Shawn Fisher’s mind was already back in Jansburg.

He couldn’t bear the thought of his darling holding Sweetie, both of them crying their eyes out.

’She was practically a child herself; how could she possibly take good care of another child?’

"Go on, then. We won’t keep you," Silas immediately said with a wave of his hand.

"You lost! Remember, you owe me one," Shawn said with a grin. ’This trip was definitely worth it.’

Silas shook his head in resignation.

’Sigh... A miscalculation, a complete miscalculation.’

’Who knew how Shawn would use this against him in the future!’

Shawn and Silas were the first to walk out.

"Need a ride to the airport?" Silas asked Shawn.

"No need." Shawn suddenly stepped closer to Silas and lowered his voice. "Men in love are all the same. It’s not every day you see someone lose so completely. Quite an accomplishment, really."

Silas let out a wry laugh.

"Do you know why you lost?"

"Why?"

"Because you’ve never been in love. You’re just a sad, single man!"

Silas: "..."

’Was that a heartless taunt?’

’Could he even deny it?’
