Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 744: Meticulous Care
After that, Madman Feng procured another plant and sold it for two hundred thousand. Others asked him to get more, but he refused—scarcity creates value, and even the rarest things become worthless when they’re no longer rare. It was thanks to that three hundred thousand that he managed to achieve his current standing.
’But why the hell was this doctor bringing up orchids out of nowhere? His handwriting sucks, and he doesn’t seem too bright, either.’
Doctor Hughes smiled. "A rare orchid is valuable, but it’s also extremely difficult to cultivate—much harder than taking care of a person. I’m simply making an analogy. Your wife is like that rare orchid. She needs your delicate and meticulous care to blossom beautifully. Otherwise, she will wither. Do you understand what I mean?"
Madman Feng grinned. He understood perfectly.
"I’ll definitely give her my most meticulous care and affection. You can rest assured, Doctor. Thanks! See you around!"
Beaming, Madman Feng waved to Doctor Hughes and strode away.
Doctor Hughes shrugged, not quite believing him. ’If he’s so capable of providing meticulous care for his wife, why is she here for a psychological evaluation?’
Just as Madman Feng stepped out, he saw Adrian Hawthorne. Adrian, who had just used the restroom, was surprised to see him and walked over. "When did you get here?"
"Yesterday. I came to visit a friend." Madman Feng was surprised as well. "Are you feeling unwell?"
"No, I brought my mom for a check-up. She hasn’t been feeling well emotionally," Adrian Hawthorne said, looking around. ’Why isn’t she out yet?’
Madman Feng understood. "Your mom found out your dad has someone on the side?"
Adrian Hawthorne nodded. "She came over yesterday and saw them."
"So what are you and your mom planning to do?" Madman Feng asked with concern, though he secretly figured, ’Adrian Hawthorne’s mother must not be very attractive. Otherwise, why would Ethan Hawthorne get involved with a woman like Bernice?’
In Madman Feng’s opinion, Bernice was plain as could be. For Ethan Hawthorne to sleep with a woman so ordinary, his wife must be truly homely. Otherwise, Ethan Hawthorne wouldn’t be so unselective.
Adrian Hawthorne looked resigned. "Whatever my mom decides, I’ll support her. How is your friend doing?"
Madman Feng gave a bitter smile. "We’re just taking it one day at a time. I’m going to handle the hospital admission procedures. I’m staying at the Fairview Guesthouse, so I’ll be in town for a while."
"I’m staying at my grandpa’s place. I’ll come look for you tomorrow."
Madman Feng smiled and hurried downstairs. Adrian Hawthorne went to Doctor Hughes’s office, but Rosalind Green wasn’t there. After a quick search of the hallway, he headed downstairs too, only to find that Madman Feng was already gone.
Rosalind Green and her mother were waiting in the lobby. Upon seeing Adrian Hawthorne, Rosalind’s expression soured, and she turned her head away, ignoring him. Mrs. Green, playing the peacemaker, smiled and said, "Let’s go home. I have a ticket for a jin of fish. We can go to the market, buy some hairtail, and I’ll fry it for us."
"That’s okay, you should save it for yourselves," Adrian Hawthorne replied. He wasn’t particularly craving it; they had fish and meat at home all the time. ’It’s better to let Grandpa and Grandma have the hairtail,’ he thought.
"It’s no problem. We’ll get more tickets next month. Come on, let’s go."
Mrs. Green insisted. She wanted to treat her daughter and grandson well, so Adrian Hawthorne dropped the subject. He walked over to Rosalind Green and asked, "What did the doctor say?"
Rosalind Green, who had calmed down a little, felt her anger flare up again at his question. However, her temperament was gentle, so she wouldn’t erupt in rage no matter how upset she was. She simply raised her voice in displeasure. "Doctor Hughes said I’m perfectly fine, that I couldn’t be better! Kenneth, if you pull something like this again, I’m going to be truly angry."
"Kenneth is just worried about you," Mrs. Green said with a placating smile.
Rosalind Green pressed her lips together, still displeased. ’Being treated like I’m crazy... What kind of concern is that?’
Adrian Hawthorne breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she was okay, that was what mattered. ’Maybe it’s because Mom and Dad have been separated for over four years,’ he thought. ’Their feelings for each other have probably just faded.’
