Chapter 182 - 177: Interesting Lilia
Chapter 182: Chapter 177: Interesting Lilia
And just like that, it seemed fate had intervened. The beautiful foreign woman had caught sight of a Peaceful Token and was currently asking her male companion for his opinion. The man spoke fluent English, making him clearly a student who had studied abroad. Returning students were usually quite wealthy, and this one was even accompanied by a female classmate with whom he shared a close relationship.
As a seasoned businessman, Boss Jia could naturally tell that the two hadn’t reached that step yet; their chemistry was still lacking a bit. Then again, it was only natural for a young man to want to show off in front of a girl. Having figured out the situation, Boss Jia confidently stepped forward, gave a thumbs-up, and praised them in English with a heavy Rongcheng accent. "Foreign friend, you have great taste!"
As he spoke, he took out the ice-jade Peaceful Token from the display case and introduced it to them in Chinglish. "This piece of jade has a fine texture and clear patterns. If worn for a period of time, it has a nourishing effect on the wearer. It also carries a wonderful meaning. It’s quite rare."
"Then let me try it on! May I?" Lilia only understood the gist of it, but she was very fond of the accessory.
"Sure." Boss Jia agreed and carefully handed it over.
After putting it on, Lilia admired herself in the mirror, finding herself liking it more and more. "How much is it?"
Boss Jia smiled brightly. "Jade nourishes the person, and the person nourishes the jade..."
Su Yunzhou interrupted, "Sir, stop beating around the bush. Give us a solid price. If it’s reasonable, I’ll buy it. If not, I’ll take her to another store."
Boss Jia frowned slightly. "Little brother, you managed to find a foreign girlfriend and bring glory to our country, so I can’t be petty either. How about this: I’ll give you a twelve percent discount off the tag price, and you can take it right now."
"HMM?" Su Yunzhou looked at the 26,800 yuan tag price and chuckled. He was just about to speak when Lilia, who had clearly loved the jade a moment ago, suddenly put down the Peace Token, grabbed Su Yunzhou, and turned to walk outside. She was muttering something under her breath, though Su Yunzhou couldn’t quite catch what she was saying.
Just as they reached the door, Boss Jia chased after them. "Please wait, dear customers! In business, I make an offer, and you should make a counteroffer to see if we can work it out!"
Lilia said expressionlessly, "Fifty percent off!"
"HUH!?" Boss Jia’s expression changed.
Su Yunzhou felt the small hand holding his grow sweatier. He thought, "Lilia is surprisingly good at haggling!"
Boss Jia shook his head and said, "Fifty percent off won’t do! I can’t sell it at that price!"
Lilia confirmed what he meant and once again pulled Su Yunzhou toward the exit.
Just as they had one foot out the door, Boss Jia’s helpless voice echoed from behind them. "Deal! It’s a deal!"
Lilia revealed a victorious smile. Her eyes filled with joy, she swiftly turned back around.
However, a minor dispute occurred when it came time to pay. Lilia insisted on paying for it herself. Seeing this, Su Yunzhou didn’t push the issue. Although he hadn’t seriously interacted with foreigners before, he had heard about their culture of splitting bills and keeping finances strictly separate.
After the payment was settled, Boss Jia secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He put on a pained expression as he saw the two of them out, but the moment he turned back inside, a sly, fox-like smile crept onto his face.
"TSK! Money is getting harder and harder to make these days!
"Even the foreigners know how to haggle now!"
Having just stepped out of the antique store, Su Yunzhou was wondering the exact same thing. Lilia smiled and explained, "I didn’t think it would actually work! I saw a blogger on TikTok talking about a three-step discounting method for buying things in Dragon Country."
Su Yunzhou hadn’t expected such a unique blogger to exist. "What are the three steps?" he asked with a laugh.
Bolstered by her recent success, Lilia spoke with confidence. "First, turn around and leave as soon as you hear the price.
"Second, no matter what it is, immediately demand half price.
"Third, if you really like it, tell the boss that if they give it to you for that price, you’ll bring more friends to buy from them."
Hearing this, Su Yunzhou suddenly understood. This blogger really knew what they were doing. He gave her a thumbs-up. "Brilliant!"
The two continued their stroll. Not far away, a group of girls dressed in ancient-style clothing was taking photos.
"Their clothes are so pretty!" Lilia praised.
"That’s called Hanfu," Su Yunzhou explained. "Do you want to try it on?"
"Sure!" Lilia nodded.
Su Yunzhou scanned the shops ahead. Usually, tourist attractions had these kinds of traditional clothing stores. He pulled out his phone to check the distance before leading Lilia forward. After walking for about seven or eight minutes, they found a distinctively decorated traditional clothing boutique tucked away in an alley.
"Hello! Welcome!" Two shop assistants dressed in traditional attire stood at the door, and one of them greeted them politely.
Su Yunzhou smiled in response. "We’d like to look at some Hanfu!"
One of the female assistants smiled brightly. "Please follow me, you two!"
Su Yunzhou nodded. The assistant led them inside the store, which was divided into three sections. The left side displayed Qipao, the middle section featured traditional costumes, and the right side was dedicated to Hanfu.
A short while later, with the assistant’s help, Lilia changed into a set of Hanfu. It was a white, long-sleeved gauze dress with delicate embroidery on the chest and a red string tied around the waist. Paired with her snow-white skin, the simple and elegant styling instantly added an ethereal charm to the already beautiful Lilia, making her look like an exotic fairy stepping straight out of a painting.
"WOW!" Su Yunzhou praised her. "You are so beautiful!"
Lilia looked at her completely different style in the mirror and revealed a sweet smile. However, when the assistant asked if she wanted to buy it, she declined. Su Yunzhou thought she was about to pull out the three-step discounting method again, but it turned out Lilia genuinely didn’t want it. When he asked why, he finally learned the reason.
"I really like it, but it’s just too troublesome to put on and take off!"
