Chapter 155: Chapter 155: The 18 Needles of Tongxuan
Half an hour later, the car arrived at Yong’an Community. Tang Min led Ye Feng and Ah Dao to a villa. Just as they reached the entrance to the main hall, they heard a bloodcurdling scream from inside.
Tang Min’s expression changed. "My mother’s illness is flaring up again," he cried out.
With that, he rushed directly into the east wing.
In the east wing, a haggard-looking woman lay on a large bed, struggling and screaming shrilly. Beside her, a young girl was desperately holding her down, yelling frantically,
"Grandma, please calm down! Calm down!"
But the woman only struggled more fiercely.
Just then, Tang Min ran in. The girl looked at him and cried, "Dad, Grandma’s having another episode! What do we do? What do we do?!"
Watching his mother struggle desperately, her mouth agape as if she could barely breathe, Tang Min’s face contorted in agony.
At that moment, a white-haired old man carrying a medicine box walked into the room.
Tang Min turned, and when he saw the old man, his eyes lit up. He exclaimed excitedly,
"Divine Doctor Zhang, you’re finally here! Please, come and diagnose my mother!"
The old man nodded, set down his medicine box, and walked to the bedside. He took the old woman’s pulse and gave her a thorough examination.
Then, Tang Min turned to the girl and said excitedly, "My girl, this is the renowned Divine Doctor Zhang Liang, who is ranked eighth on the National Ranking of Divine Doctors! With Divine Doctor Zhang here, your grandmother should be able to recover."
The girl let out a long sigh of relief. But just then, the old man released the woman’s hand, turned to Tang Min, shook his head, and said with a sigh, "You should start preparing for her final affairs."
Tang Min and the girl froze. The next moment, Tang Min snapped out of it, stumbled over to the old man, and fell to his knees with a THUD. He cried out,
"Divine Doctor Zhang, I’m begging you, please save my mother! Please, save her!"
But the old man simply helped Tang Min up, shook his head, and sighed. "The patient’s epilepsy has been left untreated for too long. It’s already led to respiratory failure. She’s beyond saving now."
Tang Min’s eyes instantly reddened. He stumbled back to the bedside, hugged the old woman, and choked out, "I still wanted to serve you and fulfill my duty as your son... Why won’t you give me that chance?"
At this sorrowful thought, tears streamed down his face. The girl beside him was also a crying mess.
But just then, a calm voice sounded from the doorway. "Who told you she’s beyond saving?"
As the voice faded, Ye Feng walked into the room.
The old man looked at Ye Feng and shook his head. "The patient is in respiratory failure. She’s truly beyond saving—"
But he stopped mid-sentence as a realization dawned on him. He glared at Ye Feng, his expression darkening.
"Who the hell do you think you are? What gives you the right to question me?"
Tang Min, still kneeling, turned pale with fright when he heard the old man berating Ye Feng. He quickly got up, went over to Ye Feng, and pleaded,
"Young Pavilion Master, Divine Doctor Zhang Liang’s medical skills are incredible. He’s ranked eighth on the National Ranking of Divine Doctors, and his skills are famous throughout the entire Great Xia Empire. His diagnosis shouldn’t be wrong."
Hearing Tang Min’s words, the old man’s head tilted back even further. He looked down his nose at Ye Feng and said coldly,
"Boy, you will apologize to me today. Otherwise, this isn’t over."
Ye Feng looked at the old man’s arrogant posture and chuckled. "Someone from the National Ranking of Divine Doctors? Is that supposed to be impressive? Someone from that very same list has knelt before me."
And Ye Feng wasn’t just bragging. Liu Wentao, ranked tenth on the National Ranking of Divine Doctors, had been so overwhelmed by Ye Feng’s medical skills that he had knelt on the spot.
But the old man didn’t know this. He thought Ye Feng was simply insulting him, and his face instantly turned ashen. He stared at Ye Feng, his lips trembling with such rage that he couldn’t speak.
Just then, the girl cried out through her tears, "Dad, Grandma’s passed out!"
Tang Min spun around and yelled at Zhang Liang, "Divine Doctor Zhang, please, think of something to save my mother!"
Zhang Liang glanced at the old woman and shook his head. "It’s no use. She’s about to pass. You should prepare for her final affairs."
He stopped mid-sentence, his eyes landing on Ye Feng. He gritted his teeth and said to Tang Min, "I don’t have the skill for this. But isn’t he so capable? Let him do it!"
Without a word, Ye Feng strode forward to the bedside. He produced eighteen silver needles and, with a flick of his wrist, sent them flying toward the old woman.
The silver needles accurately pierced eighteen of the old woman’s major acupoints. Ye Feng placed his right hand over the ends of the needles, channeling a pure stream of Inner Strength through them.
Stirred by the Inner Strength, the needles began to vibrate nonstop, emitting a low humming sound.
Tang Min’s mouth hung open as he spoke with a bitter tone, "Young Pavilion Master, even Divine Doctor Zhang said she’s beyond saving. My mother is truly hopeless now... so please, don’t trouble yourself any further..."
Zhang Liang stared at Ye Feng and gritted his teeth.
"Isn’t he the arrogant one? Fine, today I’ll watch and see how he cures this patient. If he really has the skill, it’s no problem for me to kowtow, kneel, and become his disciple. But if he doesn’t have what it takes, then he’s the one who’ll be kneeling and apologizing to me today! Otherwise, this isn’t over!"
As he spoke, he shot a sidelong glance at Ye Feng, his eyes filled with contempt.
Tang Min shook his head bitterly. "Even you can’t do anything... and now the Young Pavilion Master is trying... sigh..."
But before the words had even left his mouth, he heard Zhang Liang exclaim in shock beside him, "The Tongxuan Eighteen Needles! This is the long-lost Tongxuan Eighteen Needles!"
A confused Tang Min asked, "Divine Doctor Zhang, what’s the Tongxuan Eighteen Needles? Is it that amazing?"
Zhang Liang shouted excitedly, "It’s not just amazing, it’s *incredibly* amazing! The Tongxuan Eighteen Needles was created by the Divine Doctor Bian Que! This acupuncture technique has miraculous effects in treating epilepsy. It was this very technique that allowed Divine Doctor Bian Que to cure thousands of epilepsy patients back in his day."
"However, this technique requires inserting all eighteen needles at the same time, and each one must accurately pierce an acupoint. Because of this, very few in later generations were able to master it, causing this miraculous technique to be gradually lost to the river of time."
"Now, it’s only seen in the records of ancient medical texts; no one in the modern world can perform it. I never imagined that this Little Divine Doctor would actually be able to use it! The patient’s epilepsy... there’s truly hope for her recovery!"
As soon as his voice fell, the girl by the bed suddenly cried out excitedly, "Grandma’s awake! She’s awake!"
Tang Min could hardly believe his ears. ’Ye Feng’s treatment... it actually worked?’
He looked doubtfully toward the bed, and in the next moment, his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
The old woman had indeed opened her eyes, and her breathing had become much more stable.
"Mom!" Tang Min cried out excitedly. He stumbled over, fell to his knees by the bed with a THUD, and hugged his mother. A happy smile spread across his face, but in the next second, it was covered in tears.
Just then, an action from Zhang Liang, who was standing nearby, made Tang Min freeze on the spot.
