While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 176: Chapter 159: There Are Many Races in the Deep Sea Region
Relying on her crisp and agile movements, Rowan Rhodes quickly scaled the mountainside. Once at the top, she looked down. The raft appeared much smaller, looking exceptionally minuscule against the boundless ocean. At this moment, even a small island could be considered a behemoth on the sea.
"Rowan, what are you looking at?" Void Beast Atticus couldn’t help but ask as it watched her gaze into the distance.
"Enjoying the beautiful scenery."
"You see this scenery every day. What’s so great about it?" Void Beast Atticus sounded a bit perplexed. "Our tribe’s home is much more beautiful than this, and there are many other cities, too."
Perhaps because it had previously spoken to Rowan about its tribe and the Deep Sea Region, Void Beast Atticus was now willing to share more information. After all, its tribal elders had never explicitly forbidden it from speaking about these things. However, those elders also had no idea that she already possessed a Skill capable of communicating with them.
"Other cities?" Rowan’s curiosity was piqued once again. Since she hadn’t pried and the beast was offering this information on its own, she decided to follow the clues and dig a little deeper.
"Many races claim large islands as their own and develop them into their Territory. Those are cities," Void Beast Atticus provided a simple Introduction.
"Do people try to steal them?"
"If a race is weak, their city will be taken. But no one dares to attack a fully established city. Besides, there are smaller cities surrounding them! These small cities are various raft bases that can move around, and they protect the main city."
"Did these races slowly grow and develop by relying on a raft, just like us?" Rowan asked.
"Yes!" Void Beast Atticus replied. "In the past, the elders in my tribe also accepted the exact same missions as us!"
Hearing this, Rowan felt her suspicions were completely confirmed. Azure wasn’t the only planet dragged into the Sea Survival Game! She wondered if, once people were pulled into this place, they ever had a chance to return.
Her mind stirred, and she voiced her question. "Do these foreign races always stay in the Deep Sea Region? Have any of them ever left and returned to their home?"
"What’s a home?" Void Beast Atticus asked in confusion.
"It’s the place where we were born and raised. We lived on a beautiful planet with many different countries. Our country is called Veridia. The dishes I gave you are Veridian cuisine," Rowan explained, feeling a slight pang of bitterness in her heart. Countless times, she would wake up in the dead of night, missing Azure, missing Veridia, and missing everything on that land. Yet, upon waking, she would still find herself on a raft, floating on the boundless ocean. Even though her mind had grown much stronger after her rebirth, her love and longing for Azure and Veridia remained exactly the same.
All healthy individuals between the ages of 18 and 55 had been plucked away from Azure, leaving behind only the old, the weak, the sick, and the disabled. She had no idea how things were faring back there. In the main group chat of the Sea Survival Shop, messages from people searching for their relatives never ceased. Some were posted by the permanent players themselves, while others were posted on behalf of players within their respective districts. Of course, publishing these messages provided those permanent players with quite a few benefits. Setting everything else aside, there were many players in District 122 alone who had posted missing person notices. Some had actually managed to find their families and confirm their safety. However, the vast majority were still searching.
When it came to her own family, Rowan’s emotions didn’t fluctuate much. Her parents had died in a tragic car accident just as she was starting college and had already reached adulthood. Her relatives weren’t too bad—they didn’t scheme for her inheritance—but they weren’t close, either. Guarding the inheritance left by her parents, she lived alone. Lacking for nothing financially, her life had been comfortable and free. After graduation, she worked full-time from home as a blogger. She traveled, reviewed shops and restaurants, and wrote travel journals, living a leisurely and carefree life.
Who could have imagined that right when everything was so peaceful and tranquil, the Sea Survival Game would descend and turn the entire world upside down?
She had already shed all her tears in her past life. She had already endured all the suffering she needed to. As for close friends and relatives, she hadn’t encountered any back then, either. Separated by an entire lifetime, many of her memories had long since blurred. It was simply in her Nature not to worry, as she had never had any close family or friends to begin with.
She felt that this was perfectly fine. She was a family of one; as long as she was fed, her whole family was fed.
Listening to her, Void Beast Atticus revealed a hint of sympathy in its eyes. "You guys are so pitiful!"
Rowan sighed upon hearing this. "That’s exactly why I want to know if we have any chance of returning to our home."
