As they continued forward, it seemed like more and more ghosts appeared around them.
At the same time, the ghosts that had appeared earlier were now following them.
It seemed like they had snapped out of their daze and were following Ye Qing Huan.
None of the ghosts that followed them were actually attacking them, but it also didn’t seem like the ghosts were going to help them. The only thing that it seemed like the ghosts wanted was some kind of guidance from Ye Qing Huan.
They followed behind her as if they wanted something from her.
It had to do with what she had said to the ghosts earlier that seemed to snap them out of some kind of daze.
Lin Fan had no idea what kind of technique Ye Qing Huan used to communicate with these ghosts in the first place, but he knew that it had to be some kind of powerful technique to achieve this kind of result.
He already knew Ye Qing Huan was powerful because of the wraiths that she demonstrated, but now he knew that it didn’t just stop at the wraiths.
After following that yin qi for a while, even Lin Fan could tell that they were getting close to where it was all gathering.
As they came closer, Lin Fan could also feel the danger that was coming from that place.
Once he came close to the source, it was easy for him to tell that all of this yin qi was gathering together as if something was being formed. All of that yin qi was being gathered in this location as if it was incubating something.
That something was amassing the yin qi that came from the countless ghosts that were in this place.
With a sect as large as the Dao Sect, it was hard to imagine just how many disciples it had.
Even if only half of them died in this dorm, it was still more than any of the Five Great Sects currently had. So there was no doubt that there was a large amount of yin qi that was being generated in this place.
Once all of that yin qi was gathered, that would certainly be quite the dangerous thing that was created.
Only it didn’t seem like Ye Qing Huan was afraid of this thing as she continued forward.
After a while, the ghosts that had been following them came to a stop.
It wasn’t that they had lost interest in Ye Qing Huan, it was that they were also being suppressed by the thing that was in front of them. They wanted to keep following Ye Qing Huan for their own curiosity, but their instincts stopped them.
As ghosts, they were naturally more sensitive to things made of yin qi. They knew just how powerful the thing ahead was and how much it suppressed them.
In fact, it seemed like many of the ghosts were terrified of whatever was there.
Lin Fan had his doubts, but none of it was about whether Ye Qing Huan would be able to handle this thing or not. He was just doubtful of what kind of thing could form in a place like this.
"Don’t follow me later. Just stand nearby and watch, I’ll tell you if I need your help."
Lin Fan was caught off guard when he heard this.
Normally, Ye Qing Huan wouldn’t say things like this.
So he had no choice but to listen to what Ye Qing Huan had to say and move a few steps back.
Though it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was really worried about Ye Qing Huan since he could hear it from her voice.
"She’s excited. It seems like she’s found something interesting and wants to take it for herself." He thought to himself with a bitter laugh.
It wasn’t as if he had anything against this since it had been a fact that he had taken most of the things that they had found in the Dao Sect ruins. It was time for Ye Qing Huan to get a few things as well.
Though that just made him even more curious what it was that Ye Qing Huan wanted.
The place that the yin qi was leading them wasn’t any special place.
In fact, it looked like some kind of open courtyard that seemed to be a training field.
Lin Fan just couldn’t imagine what kind of thing would be forming in a place like this with all of the gathered yin qi.
But the moment that he stepped in, there was a disturbed look that appeared on his face.
"This is..." He couldn’t help muttering to himself with a grim look on his face.
After all, it was hard not to react when seeing this.
Amalgamation.
That was the best way to describe this mass that was in the center of this training field.
It was a ghost, but it was completely different from any of the other ghosts that they had encountered so far. After all, this was a mish mash of what seemed to be different ghosts all clumped up into one.
The worst part of it all was that it seemed like they were in pain.
It was almost as if whatever made up this amalgamation still had separate thoughts and it was screaming in pain because they had been forced to become a part of this amalgamation.
Ye Qing Huan didn’t seem to react when she saw this, she just calmly moved towards this thing in the center of the training field.
When she entered the training field, this thing stopped screaming out in pain and seemed to react to her as it turned in her direction. Or it was better to say that most of the eyes that were on this thing turned to look at her.
Then without any warning at all, the amalgamation started attacking Ye Qing Huan.
It seemed to release large tendrils of flesh, though these things weren’t actual flesh since this thing was a ghost to begin with.
Ye Qing Huan just raised her hand and it seemed like there were invisible barriers that appeared that blocked these tendrils. Then all of a sudden, there were wraiths that appeared in the air around Ye Qing Huan.
All of these wraiths were different from the ones that she had summoned out previously.
All of these wraiths had weapons in their hands that they swung at the amalgamation from different directions. None of the wraiths seemed too keen about getting close to the amalgamation.
It was just that it didn’t actually matter as the moment that their weapons made contact, the flesh of the amalgamation suddenly wrapped around them. But it didn’t just stop there as the flesh started to spread.
It seemed like the flesh of the amalgamation wanted to swallow the wraiths that were attacking it.
Seeing this, it wasn’t hard to guess how this amalgamation had formed and why the ghosts had been afraid of it.
With this ability, it actually was able to swallow two of the wraiths that Ye Qing Huan summoned. After swallowing them, there were new parts that appeared on the amalgamation that seemed to have belonged to those wraiths.
It had assimilated those wraiths that it had swallowed.
Ye Qing Huan didn’t seem affected by this, but the slight fluctuations that came from her aura was enough to show that it did have an effect on her. Only it didn’t seem like Ye Qing Huan was worried at all.
It was almost as if this was what she wanted to happen as there was a smile that was on her face.
It didn’t take long for the amalgamation to suddenly come to a stop.
Everything that the amalgamation had been doing suddenly came to a stop, almost as if there was something that was restraining it.
Then all of a sudden, the amalgamation started attacking itself.
To be specific, it was attacking the parts of itself that had formed after it had absorbed the wraiths.
Only it seemed like those parts started defending itself.
It wasn’t something that was being controlled by the amalgamation, it was something that those parts were doing on its own.
"Even though it’s been absorbed, she’s still able to control it?" Lin Fan was surprised by what he saw, but he could guess what was happening right away.
He couldn’t help being impressed by Ye Qing Huan’s abilities, but he was even more impressed by how she had seen through the amalgamation.
If she hadn’t seen through it, then she certainly wouldn’t have been able to do all of this.
While the amalgamation was attacking itself, it wasn’t as if Ye Qing Huan had been idle.
She commanded the other wraiths to continue attacking the amalgamation. This time, the weapons that they swung at it were actually carving off parts of it instead of being absorbed.
It wasn’t that the amalgamation wasn’t able to absorb them, it was that the amalgamation was too afraid to absorb it. It had already experienced what happened if it was to absorb it, which made it afraid.
But this really wasn’t going well for the amalgamation as it wasn’t able to deal with the parts that it had already absorbed.
Ye Qing Huan didn’t waste time as she summoned even more wraiths that she used to attack the amalgamation.
After a certain point, it almost seemed like she was bullying this thing.
Eventually, it was as if the amalgamation was ripped apart from the inside out with the way that tears started appearing on it.
