All of them looked at the old man that was floating there.
He was the one that wanted them to take these children away in the first place, so he would have something to say if they were to seal them off like that.
Which was why they waited to see what he would say.
In the end, the old man just said, "Do what you need to do. When the time comes, just help them see the world and regain their old feelings."
It seemed like age hadn’t muddled his mind.
He knew what needed to be done, so it wasn’t as if he was going to let himself be swayed by emotions.
Since that was the case, Ye Qing Huan didn’t hesitate to form the seal around these human figures. With her abilities, it was easy for her to suppress these ghosts and the dark energy that was around them.
Though the way that she did it certainly was strange.
She pressed her hand down in the air and there was this barrier that appeared around them that compressed them until they became small balls. There were no traces of these ghosts on the balls themselves, but one could feel the yin qi that was coming from it.
Still, it seemed like the small balls were stable enough that the ghosts were being contained as they didn’t leak anything.
Once she had sealed off these ghosts in these balls, Ye Qing Huan just casually put them away.
It didn’t even seem like it had been any effort for her from beginning to end.
After that was done, both Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan looked at the old man once more.
This time, they were waiting to see what else he had for them.
However, it turned out that things weren’t as they had expected.
"There’s nothing else for you to do. You’ve already solved the biggest issue in this place, so it’s not as if there’s anything else that I can get you to do." The old man said with a shrug and a smile.
The way that he acted was as if none of this was his problem at all.
However, he was still the one that should have been in charge of this place since he was the one that showed up.
As if he could guess what they were thinking, the old man said, "Since you’ve already solved the issue, then that means that you’ve passed the trial of this place."
The one that he said this to wasn’t Lin Fan.
The one that he said this to was naturally Ye Qing Huan.
It wasn’t a surprise since from beginning to end, it had been Ye Qing Huan that had taken care of everything. In that case, it only made sense that Ye Qing Huan was the one that actually inherited this place.
However, they were skeptical of what would be here.
After all, this place was just a dorm and it wasn’t as if it would contain anything special.
Once he said this, the old man suddenly raised his hand and tossed out a token for Ye Qing Huan.
This token was different from the one that Lin Fan possessed, this was a token that was designed specifically for managing these dorms as it had a ’manager’ symbol carved in it.
With this, Ye Qing Huan could feel the connection between her and this place.
But the moment that she felt this, she couldn’t help knitting her brows.
After all, there were some strange sensations that she wasn’t familiar with at all. At the very least, it didn’t seem like there was anything that was harming her.
The old man didn’t seem surprised to see Ye Qing Huan having this reaction. The look on his face showed that he had already been expecting her to react this way.
"It’s very strange isn’t it?" There almost seemed to be a trace of pride in the old man’s voice when he said this.
Ye Qing Huan looked at him with a wry smile as she didn’t know what to say.
But in the end, she just gave a slow nod to show that she agreed with him.
Lin Fan couldn’t help raising a brow since he had no idea what they were talking about, but he could tell that it was something quite unusual if even Ye Qing Huan was giving this kind of reaction.
With a smile on his face, the old man said, "Come with me and I’ll show you where it’s coming from."
Once again, Ye Qing Huan gave a nod before following behind the old man.
Lin Fan also followed behind the two of them since he was curious just what it was that had them acting this way.
After walking for a bit, they arrived at a building that didn’t seem that special.
In fact, this place even seemed a bit shabby with how small and run down it was. Only it didn’t seem like the old man minded this as he brought them in.
Once they were inside, Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan were even less impressed by this.
Before the old man could do anything, Xiao Mu suddenly came forward and pressed something on the wall.
The old man was surprised since he didn’t expect someone to activate this place before he could. At the same time, he was a bit surprised since he had forgotten that Xiao Mu had been here the entire time.
It wasn’t strange that he forgot about Xiao Mu since it had been just silently following them.
He had even thought that Xiao Mu was some kind of accessory that he had forgotten about, but that wasn’t the case.
After Xiao Mu pressed that thing on the wall, it was as if something had been activated.
This was this strange sensation that came from around them, but it wasn’t as if this was a bad sensation. In fact, it actually felt better the longer that they remained in this place.
Once they had felt the effects of this place for a bit, Xiao Mu suddenly said, "This place contains a special array that helps alleviate stress and fatigue."
The old man had been about to say that, but Xiao Mu had cut him off first. Because of this, there was a wry smile that was on his face.
However, the old man took a proper look at Xiao Mu this time before muttering, "So it was one of Old Tian’s training dummies. It’s no wonder it has this information."
Xiao Mu continued to explain the different details of this room, but it wasn’t as if that was important to Lin Fan or Ye Qing Huan. The only thing that was important was what this room was capable of.
While Xiao Mu was still explaining the room, Ye Qing Huan looked in a completely different direction. It was as if she was looking at something that they just couldn’t see at all.
Eventually, Xiao Mu stopped explaining and looked in the same direction as Ye Qing Huan before saying, "There are other rooms that have the same function as well in this place."
Ye Qing Huan gave a nod to show that she understood, but she didn’t turn back to look at Xiao Mu. All she said was, "I can sense that as well."
Xiao Mu didn’t say anything as it waited for Ye Qing Huan to say something else.
When Ye Qing Huan finally came back to her senses, she said, "Is there anything else special about this place?"
Xiao Mu seemed excited to hear this and nodded before leading the way forward.
It seemed like they were just completely ignoring the old man who had been guiding them all along. Even without the old man, it wasn’t as if Xiao Mu wouldn’t be able to explain everything.
Which was why the old man actually didn’t follow them.
Instead, the old man remained by Lin Fan’s side while he watched them head off.
When they were gone, Lin Fan turned to look at the old man and waited to see what he would say.
"That kid just completely stole my thunder."
That certainly wasn’t what Lin Fan had been expecting from the old man, but it wasn’t as if the old man was wrong about this.
However, it didn’t seem like this was a problem since the old man didn’t sound angry about it. Rather, it sounded like the old man was amused because of how Xiao Mu had suddenly acted.
Then all of a sudden, the old man changed the topic by saying, "There’s something different about you as well."
Lin Fan was surprised to hear this, but then he slowly took out the token to show the old man.
The old man didn’t say anything as he gave a nod to acknowledge this before saying, "It seems like you’ll have more to handle than those two do. However, do have some proper rest in this place."
Looking around, the old man said, "This place was designed with rest in mind since we wanted to give our disciples the best living conditions that we could give. It was only then that they would be able to show everything that they had."
With a firm look, the tone of his voice changed, "It was what I took the most pride in." Then with a sigh, he said, "But now, that doesn’t matter at all."
As he started to fade, the old man turned to Lin Fan one last time to say, "I hope that you’ll carry on the spirit of the Dao Sect at the very least and teach it to those children."
