Chapter 1498: Release them
Lin Fan didn’t know what to say in response to this.
He just looked at the sincere look that the old man had for a moment before slowly giving a nod in response.
It wasn’t as if he knew what he was agreeing to, but it felt like he should at least give this bit of affirmation to him.
The old man gave a nod in response before disappearing without a trace.
When it was all over, Lin Fan was left there standing alone with a look of deep thought on his face.
When Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu came back, they looked at him as if they were wondering what he was doing.
Lin Fan didn’t say anything at first, but then he relayed the words that the old man had left behind.
Xiao Mu didn’t seem to have a reaction to this, but it wasn’t the case with Ye Qing Huan.
Like Lin Fan, she suddenly fell into a state of deep thought.
It seemed like there was something that she was agonizing over with the look that was on her face.
Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling a bit strange since there wasn’t much that Ye Qing Huan would actually agonize over. So for her to act this way, it really seemed like there was something that she was struggling with.
After a long silence, Ye Qing Huan finally said, "I have a way to give them a bit more freedom."
Lin Fan was caught off guard when he heard this, but he gave a nod as he waited for Ye Qing Huan to tell him what she was proposing.
When she said it, he couldn’t help being caught off guard.
"Can you really do that?" Lin Fan had to ask this since he was a bit skeptical about all of this.
Ye Qing Huan didn’t answer right away as she looked around, almost as if she was looking for something specific. Only after she looked around like this for a bit did she finally give a nod to confirm.
This time, it was Lin Fan’s turn to reveal a complicated look on his face.
The thing that Ye Qing Huan was proposing could be considered a solution to the problem that they were facing, but it was also kind of an extreme solution. After all, this wasn’t the kind of thing that could be reversed once it was done.
At the same time, it would completely change this very Dao Sect ruins.
So if they were going to do this, it would mean that there was going to be a substantial change that everyone currently in the Dao Sect ruins would be able to feel.
Once that happened, there was no telling what the righteous sects would do or even what the disciples of the Heavenly Demon Sect would do.
"How much can you control them?" Lin Fan asked after a long silence.
Ye Qing Huan didn’t answer at first as she looked like she was testing something.
She still didn’t say anything as she started moving forward, looking like there was something that she wanted to do.
After following her for a bit, they arrived at where some ghosts had been waiting.
These were ghosts that they had encountered before, the ones that had fallen under Ye Qing Huan’s control, but were too scared to follow them to face that amalgamation. It seemed like they had been waiting outside to see what happened.
All of the ghosts moved away when they saw Ye Qing Huan come out, as if they were afraid that something had changed with her. But when they saw that she was still the same as before, they slowly started coming back.
They were looking at her as if they were trying to figure out something.
It looked like there was something that had changed with Ye Qing Huan, which was why they were looking at her like this.
Ye Qing Huan on the other hand just silently stared at the ghosts as if she was thinking about something.
After a while, she finally raised her hand towards them.
The ghosts moved away for a second before freezing. The way that they suddenly froze like this was as if there was some kind of thing that was restraining them.
However, it didn’t seem like it was something that was forcefully restraining them. Rather, it seemed like there was something that they were responding to.
After a while, Ye Qing Huan finally turned to look at Lin Fan to say, "It should be fine. I won’t force them to do anything, but I can at least make it so that they don’t attack people right away."
Lin Fan gave a simple nod in response.
The thing that he had been worried about was creating a large mess that would draw the wrong kind of attention. But if the ghosts were just going to wander around the Dao Sect ruins without actually doing much.
"This will be a good distraction."
After all, the disciples of the Five Great Sects that came into the Dao Sect ruins would recognize these ghosts as former disciples of the Dao Sect. Once they figured that they didn’t have to fight these ghosts, they would treat them as an opportunity.
Who better to guide them around the Dao Sect if not the ghost of someone that once lived here.
But whether they would be able to get anything out of them, it was entirely up to fate.
After all, these ghosts wouldn’t really care about the disciples of the Five Sects that easily.
"Just make sure that they don’t say anything about us."
Ye Qing Huan didn’t need Lin Fan to tell her this, this was something that she had already been planning to do. After all, if someone were to get the ghosts to talk, it would be bad if they told them everything about them.
This was the minimum that she had to do if she was about to pull this off.
Once that was settled, Ye Qing Huan told the ghosts to gather all of the other ghosts in these dorms.
Though they seemed confused as to why Ye Qing Huan was doing this, they still followed her orders. The influence that she had on the ghosts wasn’t small, so she was able to make all of them gather quickly.
The place that she had them gather was the edge of the dorms, right where it connected to the rest of the sect. This was also the place where the array was that prevented them from leaving.
Once they were gathered, all of the ghosts looked confused about what Ye Qing Huan had gathered them for.
But Ye Qing Huan didn’t explain anything to them as she raised her hand and pointed at them. When she did this, it was as if there was something invisible that came over the ghosts.
It looked like there was something that was being implanted in them with the expressions on their faces.
Lin Fan didn’t need to guess what was happening since he was the one that had asked about it in the first place.
When she was done, Ye Qing Huan turned to look at Xiao Mu.
Xiao Mu didn’t say anything as it reached its hand out towards Lin Fan.
Lin Fan just shook his head with a faint smile as he handed the token over.
Xiao Mu used that token to open up a hole in the array and then Ye Qing Huan drove the ghosts out that hole. For a moment, it seemed like there was something that was keeping the ghosts from leaving the dorm.
But when Ye Qing Huan raised the token that she received from the old man, she was able to bypass this thing that was keeping them in and sent them all out.
After the ghosts left, it was as if they suddenly gained more life.
They didn’t do anything at first as they just stood there like they couldn’t believe that they were out. But then they started spreading out in every direction.
Some of them moved in groups and some of them moved alone.
However, they did spread out in all directions of the Dao Sect.
It was as if they were planning on exploring the parts of their former home once more.
It was better than being cramped inside of the dorm all the time.

"What are these ghosts?"
These were cries that came from all over the Dao Sect when the ghosts appeared in front of the disciples of the Five Great Sects.
Some of them tried to attack the ghosts, but most of them chose not to provoke them since the ghosts weren’t that weak. At the same time, they chose to ignore them because the ghosts weren’t actually attacking them.
However, it didn’t take long for the disciples of the Five Great Sects to figure out something.
"That’s the mark of the Dao Sect...then these ghosts are former disciples of the Dao Sect?"
As soon as they figured this out, many of them started approaching the ghosts.
They didn’t use force, but rather they tried to communicate with the ghosts that they met. They were all trying to get information from the ghosts or even get the ghosts to lead them to treasure.
Though it didn’t seem like the ghosts really cared about them.
But that didn’t matter for some people since they thought that the ghosts would lead them to treasure.
Regardless of how they treated the ghosts, there was one thing that was certain.
They were completely distracted by the appearance of these ghosts.
