Chapter 1615: Take control

Lin Fan decided to just walk forward while holding the token in his hand.

At this point, he really didn’t know what he was supposed to do which was why he was wandering around in the dark. What he was trying to do was see if he could get some kind of reaction from the token.

He was trying to walk around in this place until he came close enough to something that would react to the token.

After all, Lin Fan simply had no idea how big this space was in the first place.

There might be something that was hidden here that he could only detect with the token in his hand. Only this was nothing more than a shot in the dark since he didn’t have any other options.

Like with any other shot in the dark, the chances of losing were high.

In this case, he lost.

"I’ve already been walking around for a while and there’s no reaction at all. It’s unlikely that there will be a reaction from this token even if I walk around a bit longer."

It was possible that he might be giving up too early since he didn’t know exactly how wide this area was, but it also wasn’t a method to keep wandering without any hope.

Every now and then, Lin Fan had to at least stop and see if he could make out his surroundings. At the very least, he had to try not to wander around like some kind of headless chicken.

"It’s not working at all..."

He just didn’t know what to do, but it wasn’t as if he could just remain here forever either. Even now, he could feel the pull that was coming from the surrounding area and draining the power of the Clear Water barrier around him.

Even with the mist filling the air with moisture, it wasn’t as if he could absorb this moisture either. This mist was something that resisted him with all of its might, so he wasn’t able to rely on it to survive in this place.

At this rate, it was only a matter of time before Lin Fan’s Clear Water barrier completely collapsed and he was forced to escape. Though whether he would be able to escape this place was another story completely.

"If only I could take control of the moisture..."

Lin Fan only had this thought on a whim, but he couldn’t shake it from his head when this thought passed through it. As it continued to grow, it seemed like it was actually a possibility.

Lin Fan’s physique gave him the ability to absorb pure elemental energy in the first place. So as long as there was this pure elemental energy that was around him, he should be able to absorb it regardless of how strong it was.

That was just how powerful his physique was in the first place.

"Is there some kind of mesmerizing array that’s also laid out in this place?" Lin Fan couldn’t help wondering to himself.

It was strange that he didn’t think of this sooner since it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was lacking confidence in himself. He should have been able to come up with the idea to absorb the pure elemental energy, but he didn’t.

"Shell shock."

That was the only thing that Lin Fan could think of that would explain what had happened.

This was his first time experiencing such pure elemental energy that even surpassed his own. The shock from experiencing something like this had completely made him forget about his own powers.

Once he came back to his senses, Lin Fan didn’t waste any time in putting his idea into action.

Though from the very beginning, it wasn’t easy.

Though Lin Fan focused his mind on trying to absorb the pure elemental water energy that was around him, it didn’t flow into him like he wanted it to. There was this strong resistance that came from the pure water elemental energy around him.

It was the kind of resistance that he had never felt before.

But then again, it wasn’t as if he had ever encountered pure elemental water energy that was this condensed.

Even if he didn’t want to, Lin Fan had to admit that his own Clear Water Bead just wasn’t on the same level as this thing. But that was also something that he could look forward to.

If it was something that was even more condensed than his own Clear Water Bead, Lin Fan could already imagine just how strong this was. At the same time, he couldn’t help looking forward to how much his own cultivation would surge because of this.

Lin Fan’s cultivation method was special since it relied on his physique and without powerful pure elemental energy items, it really was hard for him to break through.

Though it would be a lie if it was said that there wasn’t a part of Lin Fan that didn’t worry about whether he would even be able to absorb it or not. After all, he was even having trouble absorbing the pure water elemental energy around him.

"This is hopeless, it doesn’t seem like I’m powerful enough for this."

A decent amount of time had passed when Lin Fan said this.

He had been fighting against the pure water elemental energy around him the entire time, but he hadn’t been able to absorb a single trace of it. The only benefit that came from this was that he had been able to take control of the space slightly.

This control allowed him to stop the energy from being drained from his Clear Water barrier so quickly. But in the end, it didn’t mean that this energy wasn’t drained at all.

There was still energy that was being drained from the Clear Water barrier the more that he stayed here.

With a sigh, Lin Fan couldn’t help muttering to himself, "Is this really it? Can my Five Elemental True Body really not do anything against this?"

"Wait..."

After saying this, it was as if a bolt of inspiration suddenly hit him.

Lin Fan realized that he wasn’t actually using the full power of his physique.

In the first place, his physique allowed him to absorb five different forms of pure elemental energy and use their powers. But so far, he had only been using one thing instead of everything that he possessed.

"I’ve become too reliant on just using this one power..."

The void power that was inside of him was special, but it wasn’t as if it was the only thing in his arsenal. If he were to combine everything else with it, then it would certainly become even stronger.

After thinking about it a bit longer, Lin Fan realized what his mistake was.

It was that he had thought that his powers were limited.

When he had tried using the other powers with his void power, it had interfered with each other. Which made him wary of his own power and he didn’t think to combine it with anything else.

But this was only because he wasn’t skilled enough.

As long as he was able to control his powers properly, it wouldn’t be a problem for him to do this.

Taking a deep breath, the first thing that Lin Fan did was release his Clear Water barrier once more. This time it was different since it was a Clear Water barrier that he was condensing in the space around him.

He was using this Clear Water barrier to establish his dominance in this space that was filled with the pure water elemental energy.

It wasn’t enough to completely break free of the suction, but it did weaken the pressure quite a bit. At the same time, he was able to create space for himself to release even more of his abilities.

The metal power that he possessed created a magnetic force that tore apart the density of the pure water elemental energy.

The wind was used to create a current that made it hard for it to flow in its normal path.

All different kinds of abilities were used to disrupt the pure water elemental energy around him just like the Clear Water barrier was doing.

It didn’t take long for Lin Fan to actually break through the pure water elemental energy.

In fact, he found that it was actually much easier than he thought.

"It’s just that I’ve never actually used my abilities to its full extent before. I’ve been handicapping myself for no reason..."

A bitter smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he realized this, but it wasn’t as if there was anything that he could gain from regretting this now. It was better to focus on absorbing the pure water elemental energy that was around him.

With everything weakening the pure water elemental energy around him, the suction force was able to start absorbing it without a problem. It was only a little bit at first, but it was increasing as time passed.

It was like a fish that was suddenly able to swim through water with the way that he was able to absorb the pure water elemental energy.

However, it wasn’t as if this was a good thing.

"Damn...it’s coming too fast."

Lin Fan could tell that this flow was just too much for him to handle.

In the first place, there was a reason why he wasn’t able to absorb it.

Even though he had disrupted it and made it easier to absorb, that didn’t mean that it was any weaker than it was before. The energy density was on a different level still.

"Should I stop?"
