Chapter 1617: Draining it all

The array itself wasn’t actually an array that was meant to stop him from leaving.

As Lin Fan expected, it was a simple array that was meant to befuddle him.

After all, this area itself wasn’t that big in the first place. The only way that it would make him feel that it was that big was with the combination of this array and the mist, as well as the suppression from the higher form of the pure water elemental energy.

But now that the mist was gone, he was able to see this entire space in its entirety and knew just how big it really was.

"They really were risking it quite a bit by only creating a space that was this big."

Then again, this was the Dao Sect. If they created something like this, they were confident that it would have worked.

At the same time, Lin Fan could tell that this thing wasn’t created to protect what was hidden here. Rather, it seemed like it was a test for those that wanted to reach the thing that was hidden here.

"This is most likely one of the trial grounds of the Dao Sect, just like the illusion cave." Lin Fan muttered to himself as he stared at the array.

The illusion cave had a total of five rooms, so how many different trials would this place have?

Lin Fan shook his head in the end and tossed out those thoughts.

It really didn’t matter how many trials this place had, he was still going to break through all of them. After all, the pure water elemental item in the center was something that he really needed.

It wasn’t as if the Dao Sect was going to use it, so they might as well give it to him and let him increase his cultivation.

At the same time, Lin Fan made a mental note to remind himself to ask Old Duan about this later.

If there were other pure elemental energy items that were being stored in the Dao Sect, it would be a waste if he didn’t take them. He needed them for his cultivation right now and Old Duan would agree that him becoming stronger was good for them.

After breaking through this array, Lin Fan made his way into the second part of this trial.

Only the moment that he stepped through the boundary, he was completely caught off guard.

"What is this?" Lin Fan didn’t have time to think too much as he had to use his Clear Water to clear the space around him.

That was because the moment that he stepped past the boundary, he found himself submerged in water. He had gone from a space that was completely devoid of any moisture and entered a space that seemed filled with it.

But this much moisture wasn’t a good thing either.

After all, this water wasn’t normal water.

This wasn’t the kind of water that he could survive in since it would have crushed him with its pressure. This water was similar to the mist that had surrounded him previously, it was something that was created from pure water elemental energy.

The difference was that this water was much more dense compared to the mist and had much more pressure in it.

A normal person that was left inside of this water would have been crushed in an instant. Even a cultivator that was below the Golden Core Realm would have been slowly crushed by the pressure that was here.

Lin Fan didn’t have a problem with this pressure right away as his physique was already much stronger than most cultivators. It was just that there was a problem with the water entering his body as well.

It wasn’t just the pressure alone that came from the water around him that posed a problem, it was also the fact that this water was full of pure water elemental energy.

This was the kind of energy that would damage a person’s body if it was absorbed without any kind of special techniques. Which was the main reason that the water had been placed in this area to begin with.

It was supposed to be a trap for anyone that came into this second trial.

With the Clear Water barrier providing a barrier for him, there was nothing that the water around him could do to him as it blocked it for him.

The Clear Water was already much stronger compared to before, so there was no way that this water was able to break through it. However, that didn’t mean that Lin Fan wasn’t able to do anything to the water that was around him.

Though the first thing that he had to do was take care of the other thing that was lurking in the water.

Behind the water was the same powerful pure water elemental energy from before.

It was also the thing that was controlling the water that was here.

If it remained inside of the water, then it would become a problem for Lin Fan since it might do something to the water around him.

Right now, the water was still rather calm since it was only forming a cage around him. But if the water that was around him suddenly started doing something, then it would be too late for him to regret it.

Which was why it was best for him to take care of the thing that was controlling the water before it could actually do anything.

With just the Clear Water barrier alone, he was already able to suppress that higher grade pure water elemental energy. But Lin Fan wasn’t satisfied with this alone as he spread out his other powers.

Once his abilities spread through the water, the same thing happened where the pure water elemental energy hiding in the water was destabilized.

At that point, all it took was for him to use his suction force to absorb it.

Though this time, he didn’t want to absorb the water that was there as well.

He was only aiming at the high grade pure water elemental energy, which did become a bit of a struggle for him.

Lin Fan had to figure out how to precisely control the suction force, something that he had never tried doing before. But it turned out that it was quite easy for him to do such a thing.

After figuring out how to precisely control his different forms of pure elemental energy, he found that it was easy to do the same with the void energy.

"In the first place, the void energy is made up of the pure elemental energy. So it could be considered another form of the pure elemental energy, which is why it would be controlled in a similar manner." Lin Fan thought to himself as he controlled that suction force.

Once he finished absorbing all of this, Lin Fan reduced the size of the Clear Water barrier that was in front of him. After all, there was no longer any need for him to maintain that large barrier since the water had gone benign.

It was as if whatever will had been behind it had disappeared without a trace.

As for the other reason that he made this Clear Water barrier smaller, it was all because he wanted to focus on strengthening the Clear Water Bead.

This time, he had obtained far more of that liquid inside of his dantian which made it easier for him to feed his Clear Water Bead. Though Lin Fan did make sure to isolate that liquid from the pure water elemental energy just in case anything happened.

He didn’t want it to cause any damage to the Clear Water Bead and make all of his efforts worthless.

After Lin Fan finished feeding the Clear Water Bead, he found that there was something else that changed around him.

"I can take it with me?"

The change that came over him was that the Clear Water was now having a suppression effect on the water that was around him.

He already knew that this water was a weaker form of pure water elemental energy that was controlled by the item at the core of this trial, but he didn’t think about controlling it like that thing did.

He wasn’t able to do such a thing since it was still quite the powerful form of pure water elemental energy.

But now it was different since he could tell that the Clear Water had this suppression effect on it.

"Since that’s the case, then there’s no need to hold back. There’s no point in absorbing it now since it won’t do anything for the Clear Water Bead, it’s better to keep this thing around the Clear Water Bead and use it if I ever need it."

This water really was a great cover for him just in case he ever needed to use pure water elemental energy.

After all, he knew that the Clear Water had reached another level because of all the energy that it had absorbed. If he were to show others the Clear Water now, then it would just be showing off that he had something to steal.

It was fine when it was the Clear Water from before since it wasn’t that precious even if it was rare.

But the current Clear Water Bead was different after absorbing all of that energy.

"Is this the suppression that comes from something that is of a higher rank or is it something else?"

After all, this didn’t feel like it was purely suppression from being of a higher grade.
