Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 279 - 281: War of Words
Chapter 279: Chapter 281: War of Words
Just as Munger was feeling puzzled, the mountain of corpses in front of Andre collapsed again, and the Splitting Heavy Sword sank deeper.
As the corpse mountain collapsed, the Splitting Heavy Sword’s aura intensified slightly. It was this subtle increase in aura that made Munger realize something was wrong.
Munger turned his head and saw the Splitting Heavy Sword embedded in the mountain of corpses. He immediately flew up and pulled it out.
When he grasped the Splitting Heavy Sword and pulled it free, he felt its immense weight.
"A battered Morning Star Witchcraft Artifact, and one used by a Body Refining Wizard at that. You didn’t actually kill them with this thing, did you?"
Munger carefully examined the Splitting Heavy Sword in his hand, but no matter how he looked, he couldn’t figure out who its original owner was.
Andre looked at Munger and nodded.
Seeing Andre nod, Munger’s confusion only deepened.
Munger descended, carrying the Splitting Heavy Sword.
"Killing them all with this sword... That would have been no small feat!"
Munger looked at the Splitting Heavy Sword. From the first moment he laid eyes on it, he knew this Morning Star Witchcraft Artifact was on the verge of shattering.
Only the main material of the blade was still holding its form.
Munger looked at Andre with great curiosity. But just then, a figure appeared out of nowhere and sent Munger flying with a single punch.
Caught completely off guard, Munger dropped the Splitting Heavy Sword. He immediately cast a Witchcraft spell to stabilize himself, his face contorted in anger as he glared at the person standing in front of Andre.
When he got a clear look at the figure’s face, Munger grew even more furious.
"Sokra, you treacherous bastard! You were the one who asked me to help you find him. Now that he’s found, this is how you treat me?"
Munger pointed an angry finger at Sokra, who had appeared beside Andre, and let loose a stream of curses.
Sokra, however, completely ignored Munger’s tirade and simply waved his hand.
The adjacent mountain of corpses was crushed into fine dust by an overwhelming Power.
Sokra then used Witchcraft to extract the residual blood from the dust, dripping it onto the Splitting Heavy Sword.
As the blood dripped onto it, the Splitting Heavy Sword began to glow, absorbing all the Power within the blood.
This Power from the blood surged into the Splitting Heavy Sword, and the Witchcraft Array on its blade began to repair itself.
Finally, a heaven-shaking aura erupted from the Splitting Heavy Sword.
At this point, the Splitting Heavy Sword was seventy percent repaired. It could be considered a quasi-Morning Star Witchcraft Artifact.
The reason it was called a quasi-Morning Star Weapon was that the Splitting Heavy Sword had been far too damaged to begin with.
Even if it absorbed all the blood from the entire Racial Alliance Army, it would be difficult to completely restore the Splitting Heavy Sword.
But as it was now, the Splitting Heavy Sword was more than enough for Andre to use.
"Take it!" Sokra handed the repaired Splitting Heavy Sword back to Andre, then looked up at Munger.
By now, Munger had flown back, looking at Sokra with an expression of pure fury.
"I asked you to find him, not to stand here interrogating him. What were you planning?"
Sokra stared at Munger’s furious face. Upon hearing the question, the anger on Munger’s face instantly vanished.
With that one question from Sokra, the roles between him and Munger were instantly reversed.
"He’s just a Level 2 Wizard. How did he manage to kill an entire force of the Racial Alliance Army?"
"Was I wrong to ask?"
"Besides, he’s the disciple of my senior brother’s disciple. That makes me his grand-uncle in our lineage. What’s wrong with me asking him a few questions?"
Munger, having recovered his wits, was now positioning himself as a senior elder.
"An elder? If I were this kid and had an elder like you, I’d find a Stone and bash my head in right now."
"To be associated with your lineage... what a disgrace!"
Sokra looked at Munger with utter contempt, his words as sharp as knives, each one plunging into Munger’s heart.
"You!" Munger pointed at Sokra, so furious he was at a loss for words.
"What, you want to fight me? Are you even capable?"
Sokra was now going all out, relentlessly humiliating Munger with his words.
Munger was so angry he was grinding his teeth, but he didn’t dare make a move against Sokra.
As for why he didn’t dare to fight Sokra? It all came down to their respective Realms.
Sokra’s Realm was at the absolute peak of a Morning Star Wizard, ready to advance to Moonlight Great Mage at any moment.
Munger, on the other hand, was still stuck in the Middle Stage of Morning Star. The gap between them was obvious.
"Fine, fine! I’ll go report this to the Dean later!"
Munger glared at Sokra, fuming.
But now, with Sokra’s teacher, Klein, having become one of the only two Red Sun Great Wizards in the academy...
...the old tactic of gathering his peers to put pressure on Klein’s lineage was completely useless.
So, his only recourse was to tattle, and the only person he could tattle to was the Dean.
’In my view,’ Munger thought, ’although Klein has become a Red Sun Great Wizard, making him an equal to the Dean, his ascension means that a great deal of the Dean’s Power will be siphoned away by him.’
’Sokra’s constant taunts toward me now could serve as the perfect hammer for the Dean to use against Klein’s lineage.’
’He can use this incident with me to put Klein’s lineage in its place.’
’And let Klein’s people know that even with Klein as a Red Sun Great Wizard, they can’t just do whatever they want in the academy.’
But Sokra paid Munger’s words no mind at all.
"Go on, go. Let’s see if the Dean will even listen to you."
"Any other elder, after seeing one of their own juniors fight so hard to kill our enemies, would be actively trying to heal them."
"But you, acting as an ’elder,’ not only do you not offer any Potions to help him recover, you relentlessly interrogate him instead."
"Even if you take this to the Dean, I’m the one who’s in the right."
Sokra looked at Munger with an air of complete indifference.
It was this indifferent attitude that made Munger feel like his heart was about to pound out of his chest.
’This is infuriating!’ Munger fumed internally. ’I just wanted to ask for the details of Andre’s battle with the Racial Alliance Army.’
’Then I was going to find a way to publicize what Andre did.’
’Once the publicity took effect, our lineage could then apply for some rewards for Andre from the Main Institute.’
’That way, Andre would feel that our lineage was still paying attention to him.’
’It was a way to try and win back some of his loyalty.’
’But after what Sokra said, I’ve been made out to be a complete bastard.’
Ugh! Munger couldn’t even begin to describe how furious he felt inside.
He wanted to tell Andre the plan.
But this was the kind of thing he couldn’t just openly say to Andre.
Such things had to be done in secret.
If he said it out loud, then it was highly likely that the rewards their lineage planned to apply for on Andre’s behalf would go up in smoke.
