As Evan entered the doorway of the giant tree, he was expecting to see a cave-like structure leading deeper inside the tree.

But to his surprise, what came into his view was a beautifully decorated hallway.

The floor was made of smooth, polished brown wood, with white glowing crystals embedded on each side of the hallway walls. The crystals illuminated the entire hallway with a soft light, and some branches were coming out from the top of the wooden walls, swaying slightly and making Evan feel as if he were walking amid a cluster of trees.

If it wasn’t because he knew he was inside the trunk of a tree, he wouldn’t have believed it.

"This is definitely not natural, right? Someone must have created this place with a lot of effort." Evan spoke as he looked around.

Alice smiled slightly when she heard him and nodded.

"Yes. There are actually many formations used to transform this tree. Not only did these formations preserve the foundation of the tree, but they also allowed it to absorb Mana from the surroundings faster, helping it to grow faster."

Evan nodded at Alice’s words and chuckled.

"When I saw those tree-like structures on the way, I actually thought it would look something like a cave from the inside."

Kevin’s mouth twitched when he heard Evan’s words.

"Do you think we are primitive? Why would we live in caves?"

Evan gave an awkward laugh and decided to change the subject.

"By the way, how is the relationship between elves and humans?"

Since he was going to meet the leader of the High Elves of this planet, he at least needed to determine the relationship between elves and humans in the Light Alliance.

If their relationship was good, it would be beneficial to him, as Alice’s mother shouldn’t make things difficult for him in that case.

But if their relationship was bad, then he could only hope he wouldn’t be slapped to death by her just to avoid any complications.

"If I tell you honestly, then the relationship between elves and humans is actually not that good," Alice said in a low voice. "I told you about humans buying elves as slaves earlier, right?"

Evan nodded at Alice’s question.

"Selling elves or any other species that are members of the Light Alliance as slaves is actually prohibited. But there are always some people who don’t care about the rules, and among the people who capture elves to sell as slaves just because of the huge profits, humans are at the top."

She paused before looking at Evan.

"I am not saying all humans are bad, but the desires of you humans are just..." She shook her head and didn’t continue.

Evan remained silent at Alice’s words, as he knew how fucked up some humans could be.

Not to mention other species, many of them didn’t even leave their own kind alone.

Lia’s case was similar, as she was also captured to be sold as a slave. He himself had once been kidnapped to be sold as a slave.

Sighing inwardly, he couldn’t help but mutter in a low voice.

"I just hope I won’t be slapped to death right after meeting her."

Alice heard his muttering and shook her head with a chuckle.

"Let’s go. We have already wasted enough time," She said and led them deeper inside.

As they walked, Evan suddenly remembered another thing that he had seen earlier.

"By the way, those guards called you Princess earlier. Don’t tell me that other than being the strongest and the holder of the Supreme Entrance Authority Token, your mother is also the Queen of the High Elves."

"Correct," Kevin said with a wicked smile. "Alice’s mother is the Queen of the Mariena Empire. If she feels you are a threat to her people, she will immediately kill you."

"It was good to know you, brother." Liam patted Evan’s shoulder. "If you die out there, this handsome brother of yours will definitely light up a candle for you every year."

Evan’s mouth twitched violently at Liam’s words, and he couldn’t help but feel nervous inside.

"You don’t need to worry about what they say..." Alice shook her head when she noticed his nervous expression. "My mother is actually a very gentle woman. Unless you do something stupid, she wouldn’t harm you in any way."

"I hope so..." Evan just nodded and continued to walk with Alice and the others.

Soon, they reached the end of the hallway and stopped before some round leaves that were about five meters in diameter.

"Stand on it," Alice said, and all of them stood on one of the leaves.

The next second, Evan was surprised to see the leaf slowly float up and rapidly ascend towards the top of the tree.

As the leaf moved, Alice thought of something and reminded Evan.

"If my mother asks you something that you don’t want to answer, then honestly refuse her. Don’t try to lie in front of her, or you are in for a severe beating."

As she spoke, Alice couldn’t help but remember her childhood and felt a sharp pain in her backside.

"I understand," Evan nodded seriously and noted down her advice.

Though, he actually did not have anything to hide. As long as she didn’t ask him about his skills, class, and other personal questions, he had no intention of hiding anything and making things more difficult for himself.

About a minute later, the floating leaf stopped at the entrance of another hallway.

But compared to the ground hallway, this hallway was even more beautiful, with royal golden light crystals embedded in the walls.

Alice and the others came down from the floating leaf and started walking deeper into the hallway. There were many beautiful paintings all over the wooden walls of the hallway.

After walking through the hallway for some time, Evan and the others arrived before a giant, polished wooden door.

Looking at the giant door, Evan felt as if he were about to enter the boss room of a dungeon, and he gulped down his saliva.

Alice knocked on the door and waited for a few seconds before a calm voice came from inside.

"Come in."

Alice opened the door, and all of them entered inside.
