World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 131: Only Good For Warm-Up
"By the way, while facing the phantom tree, your stamina will also be consumed rapidly," Alice said after setting the tree’s level to 50.
"Rapid drain of stamina?" Evan raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Alice nodded and explained, "This function exists to put more pressure on you during training. Otherwise, with the high stamina of Evolvers, it might take them tens of minutes or even hours before they feel any pressure while training against phantom trees. After all, the real challenge of dodging those fast-moving branches only begins when you’re exhausted."
A look of understanding flashed in Evan’s eyes, and he nodded.
The Legendary-Grade treasure used to create these phantom trees was called the Illusion Tree Maker.
Using it, one could create dozens of phantom trees whose levels ranged from Rank One all the way to the peak of Rank Three.
As Evan looked around, he saw that most of the students were training against peak Rank One phantom trees. There were also some students training against Rank Two phantom trees, but their numbers were very small.
After giving Evan a few more instructions about how the tree worked, Alice backed away.
"The phantom tree will attack you as soon as you step onto the ring."
Evan took a deep breath and after looking at the tree, which stood nearly three meters tall and had dozens of branches, he took a step forward and stepped onto the ring.
As a phantom, the tree couldn’t harm anyone, even if its branches struck them. However, whenever one of its branches touched a person, it would leave behind a glowing mark, making it possible for everyone to know that the person had been hit.
Because he was a human and had even arrived with Alice, many people had already noticed him. And now that he had stepped onto the ring, even more students turned their attention toward him with interest.
"A Level 37 human... How long do you think he will last?" One of the students asked as he watched Evan prepare to train against the peak Rank One tree.
"I think five minutes shouldn’t be a problem."
"You’re thinking too highly of him. I bet he won’t last more than two minutes."
"You guys are being blinded by your hatred for humans. Since Princess Alice herself is showing him around, he shouldn’t be a nobody among humans. I think he’ll be able to last ten minutes."
Hearing someone claim that Evan could last ten minutes, the others couldn’t help but turn their heads toward him before bursting into laughter.
"Brother, you are really good at telling jokes. How about organizing a stand-up comedy show? I will definitely come to watch it."
"Yeah, me too. I think you could become a good comedian."
Evan listened to their words, and his mouth couldn’t help but twitch.
At the same time, however, he couldn’t help but feel curious about whether it was really that difficult to last ten minutes.
’My five hundred points of Stamina should be enough to last more than ten minutes, right?’ He thought before finally stepping onto the ring.
As soon as he stood on the ring, the phantom tree shook slightly. The next moment, numerous branches shot toward him at an incredible speed.
Although it was only a phantom tree, its branches created the sound of air being torn apart as they moved.
Evan looked at ten branches coming toward him from every direction but espite their incredible speed, they still appeared extremely slow in his eyes because of his outrageous Agility stat.
Without using any skills, he simply took a step back with minimal movement and dodged one of the branches. Then he stepped to the right to avoid another and continued moving with minimal movements, easily dodging all the branches coming at him.
Suddenly, three branches came at him simultaneously. Evan hurriedly dodged them, but before he could regain his balance, two more branches came at him from his left and right.
Evan’s expression remained unchanged and just as the branches were about to hit him, he bent his body at an unnatural angle and evaded them at the last moment.
The students watching couldn’t help but feel surprised when they saw this, and some of them nodded in approval.
"He’s actually doing pretty well," One of the students said.
"It’s just the beginning. He will soon run out of stamina and get hit by a branch."
The tree continued attacking Evan, but he easily evaded every strike with his high Agility.
Soon, three minutes passed, and the number of branches attacking Evan increased from the initial ten to more than fifteen.
But even with the increased number of branches, he didn’t feel much pressure.
"It’s been three minutes. I think he will soon run out of stamina."
The student who had said Evan could last ten minutes shook his head and pointed at him.
"You are completely wrong. Look at his face. His breathing is still even, and he doesn’t look like someone who’s about to run out of stamina."
Hearing this, the other students looked at Evan carefully and were surprised to see that his face remained extremely calm.
Soon, five minutes passed, and Evan was still evading the attacks without any trouble.
"For a Level 37 Evolver, this guy’s stamina is quite impressive."
"Maybe he put most of his stats into Stamina."
"It’s possible. But even then, he should be reaching his limit soon."
Time continued to pass, but Evan was still dodging the phantom tree’s attacks without any problems.
Ten minutes, twenty minutes, twenty-five minutes...
The students could no longer remain calm, and looks of shock appeared on their faces. What made their scalps tingle was that Evan’s expression remained completely calm, showing no signs of exhaustion.
"How is this possible?"
"This is fake. This guy must be using an artifact to hide his real level. There’s no way he’s only Level 37!"
"Yeah, I heard there’s a saying among humans about pretending to be a pig to eat a tiger. This guy is definitely a follower of that saying."
Evan didn’t bother with what the people were saying and around thirty minutes later, he jumped off the stage on his own.
When the other students saw this, they sighed in relief because they had started to think that this human would continue training against the tree all day.
"Finally, this guy stopped! I was starting to think he’d keep dodging the attacks all day."
"So he doesn’t have endless stamina after all," One of the students said.
However, their faces stiffened the very next second when Evan looked at Alice after jumping down and spoke.
"Can you adjust this tree’s level to Rank Two? This Rank One tree is only good for a warm-up."
