The more Ovillette read the news, the worse he felt. It was as if a heavy stone was pressing down on his chest, suffocating him.

Just then, a knock sounded at the ward door. “Come in,” Ovillette called out.

Ayre, the Princess, and a private doctor walked in together. Quentin Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood had also been at the hospital. Seeing that everything was fine, Quentin said, “Let’s go.”

Ivy nodded, and the two of them left.

After they entered and saw Ovillette, Ayre asked, “Ovillette, why are you crying?”

Ovillette reached up to touch his face, only to realize that tears had long been streaming down his cheeks. He hadn’t noticed at all; he didn’t even know he was crying. He wondered why he was crying. Why? Yet, he was completely oblivious to it. Could it be because of Ivy Sherwood?

“Ovillette!” The Princess immediately rushed over. “Why did you faint? Are you all right? Did you see someone?”

Ovillette looked at the Princess with a faint, detached gaze. “I’m fine.”

As Ovillette put down his phone, the Princess glanced at his screen. She noticed it was entirely in Chinese. Her Chinese wasn’t very good, so she couldn’t understand a word of it.

Ayre knew a little bit of the language. Catching a glimpse of a familiar name, he asked, “Ovillette, are you searching for Ivy Sherwood?”

Instantly, the Princess’s heart leaped into her throat. She clenched her hands tightly. She wondered why he was searching for Ivy. Could he have taken an interest in her?

“Yes.” The King hadn’t realized he had been browsing for so long. From the time Ayre and the others flew over to when they arrived at the hospital, at least four hours had passed.

“Why are you searching for Ivy? Ovillette, are you…” The Princess stopped mid-sentence, realizing she was acting a bit too anxious, and shut her mouth.

Ayre chimed in, “Ivy is a really nice person. I heard she was the one who brought you to the hospital. When my sister was in trouble a few days ago, it was Ivy and Quentin who arranged her rescue. We really need to thank them properly.”

They hadn’t even had the chance to treat them to a thank-you dinner last time, and now Ovillette had been saved by Ivy as well.

Ovillette nodded. “We definitely should thank them. Make some arrangements. Find out when they’re free, and we will pay them a formal visit to express our gratitude.”

At the same time, he wanted to take a good look at Ivy. He wanted to see just how strong this young woman, who had endured so many hardships, had to be to make it this far. However, Ovillette found it very strange. Why was it that after looking at Ivy’s face, he felt like he couldn’t remember what she looked like? Even now, he couldn’t recall it. Everything regarding her face seemed to be a complete blank.

“Of course! I’ll go arrange it right now,” Ayre agreed readily.

But just then, the Princess stopped him. “Ayre!”

“What’s wrong?”

“There’s no rush for this. Let Ovillette rest properly first. Besides, with his status, how can he casually visit a commoner? If word gets out, what would people think?” The Princess continued, “You handle the arrangements. Thank them however you see fit, and give them however much money is appropriate, but we won’t be going.”

Ayre looked at her in surprise, amazed that his sister could say such a thing. Wasn’t she always the one who cared most about etiquette?

“Ivy is a friend of mine, as well as my business partner. Even if we just meet her once, it’s our way of showing gratitude. She saved your life, too. You can’t just brush that off with money,” Ayre said, feeling that her suggestion was highly inappropriate. Moreover, Ivy didn’t lack money at all. Quentin’s assets alone rivaled the wealth of a small nation; how could they possibly be bought off? Acting this way would only make them look petty and ungracious.

However, the Princess argued, “We should minimize our contact with the people of Calypsos. Do you have any idea what ulterior motives they might harbor? Didn’t that Ivy just use you to open up foreign sales channels and expand her company to such a massive scale?”

Ayre wanted to retort. Ivy’s ability to grow her company was entirely due to her own competence; what did that have to do with him?

Not giving him a chance to speak, the Princess pressed on, “The fact that both Ovillette and I encountered danger is highly suspicious in itself. Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence? I run into trouble right after arriving in Calypsos, and they rescue me. Then Ovillette happens to have an accident, and they rescue him too. Who knows if they orchestrated all this? What if it’s entirely an intentional conspiracy on their part?”

“How could you think that?” Ayre found her logic absolutely absurd.

“Are you captivated by Ivy’s face too? Have you completely lost your mind?” the Princess scolded her younger brother. That face belonged to a complete seductress. Back in the day, Winter Mercer had mesmerized countless men, and now her daughter was even worse. Her brother had never spoken up for any woman before, yet here he was, actually taking Ivy’s side.

“That’s enough!” Ayre realized that ever since arriving in Calypsos, his sister truly seemed like a different person. How could she harbor such terrifying and vicious thoughts? And why did she have such immense hostility toward Ivy? He knew better than anyone what kind of person Ivy was.

“I think Ayre is right,” the King interjected. “Ivy is your friend as well. Didn’t she blend that dream perfume for you before? I recall you being quite satisfied with it.”

The Princess had indeed been extremely satisfied at the time, but that was before she knew Ivy was Winter Mercer’s daughter. Now, she loathed Ivy to the core, wishing for nothing more than for the girl to drop dead immediately.

“Go make the arrangements,” the King instructed.

The Princess wanted to say more but couldn’t make her objections too obvious. She could only watch helplessly as Ayre went off to make contact. Digging her nails into her palms, she turned back to Ovillette.

“Ovillette, you saw Ivy today. Why did you look her up? Did she say something to you? How is your body feeling?”

“I’m fine,” Ovillette replied.

The Princess was terrified. “I brought Davi over to give you a thorough checkup. He’s the one who usually manages your health.”

The King, completely unguarded, allowed Davi to examine him. During the checkup, Davi shot the Princess a meaningful glance.

Understanding immediately, the Princess said, “I’ll go step outside and see how Ayre is doing. Let Davi finish your examination here.”

She quickly left the ward, leaving only Davi and the King inside.

Davi stared into the King’s eyes. “Your Majesty, you are very tired now. You need to rest. Close your eyes. Embrace your dreams. In front of you is your favorite summer, with fluffy white clouds dotting the sky…”

Davi began to hypnotize and plant suggestions into the King’s mind. Not only was he skilled in medicine, but he was also a masterful hypnotist. Having been with Ovillette for a long time, he knew everything about him, which allowed him to induce hypnosis rapidly.

Sure enough, Ovillette’s eyes soon slowly fluttered shut. Under Davi’s influence, he slipped into a deep hypnotic trance.
