Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Chapter 576: Quentin Blackwood Says the Most Ruthless Words in the Coldest Tone

Outside the hospital room, Ayre went to contact Ivy Sherwood, while the Princess waited anxiously.

Her mind refused to settle. She was constantly terrified that the truth would come to light, the anxiety in her heart magnifying until she lived in a state of perpetual dread.

A short while later, Davi finished the hypnosis session. Ovillette had fallen into a deep sleep.

The door to the ward opened, and Davi stepped out.

Glancing over at Ayre, who was still on the phone, the Princess gestured for Davi to lower his voice.

"I just tested him. The King hasn’t remembered anything. Please rest assured, Your Highness," Davi said softly.

Only then did the Princess let out a heavy sigh of relief. "Stay by the King’s side for the time being. If you notice anything unusual with him, you know what to do."

"Yes," Dr. Davi replied respectfully.

The Princess nodded. "As long as you do your job well, your son and grandson will be safe. But if you dare breathe a single word of this..."

She didn’t finish her sentence, but Davi knew exactly what she meant.

"Sister, what are you and Dr. Davi talking about?" Ayre walked over, having finished his call.

The Princess immediately regained her composure. "Nothing. Davi just examined Ovillette and was briefing me on his condition. It’s not serious. He told us not to worry."

"I told you Ovillette was fine. Look how worried you were just a moment ago."

The Princess forced a stiff smile. "Ayre, I want to go back to Elandra. Make the arrangements. When can we head back?"

Staying here would only invite trouble. She had no idea when Jason Summers would make his move. To her, Jason was no longer trustworthy; she had to take matters into her own hands.

But they were in Calypsos now, not Elandra. It was foreign territory. Even if the Princess wanted to do something, she didn’t dare, especially since her forces weren’t stationed here. She would have to return to Elandra before figuring out a long-term plan.

"We need to see how Ovillette is doing first. At the very least, we should meet with Ivy and the others," Ayre said.

The Princess dug her nails into her palms. She didn’t want to wait that long. But she couldn’t go back alone. The most crucial piece was Ovillette!

Ayre returned to the ward, surprised to find that Ovillette had fallen asleep. He wondered why Ovillette had dozed off so quickly when they had just been talking.

"Sister, Ovillette is asleep?"

The Princess pulled him out of the room. "Don’t disturb his rest."

Meanwhile, Quentin Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood had already returned home.

Just moments ago, when Ayre called, Ivy had felt a sudden, inexplicable pang in her chest.

Ivy and Quentin had only left the hospital when Ayre and the Princess arrived. Before that, they had been standing guard, afraid that some emergency might arise. In fact, Ivy had even missed a meeting with an important client to rush Ovillette to the hospital. But as long as the King was unharmed, that was all that mattered.

When Ayre called to ask for their availability so Ovillette could thank them in person, Ivy felt overwhelmed. She didn’t think she had done anything special, and receiving gratitude from such an important figure felt like too much for her to accept.

Quentin, however, accepted the invitation without hesitation, simply stating that it was the right thing to do. Perhaps because Quentin had always been an apex predator at the top of the food chain, he didn’t find Ovillette’s status intimidating. To him, the King was probably just another ordinary man. But as a commoner, Ivy could never have imagined rubbing shoulders with such a prominent figure.

They agreed to meet in a couple of days once Ovillette was discharged from the hospital. They told Ayre they would be available whenever.

Ivy looked up at Quentin. "Do you think the King will be alright?"

"Are you worried?" he asked. He figured that if she was, they could always go visit him.

Ivy wasn’t entirely sure if it was worry. It was just that earlier, she had felt an agonizing twinge in her heart. It happened exactly when Ayre called. She couldn’t explain the strange premonition, but she felt much better now; it had only lasted for that brief moment.

"If you’re worried, I can arrange for someone to keep an eye on the hospital, and we can go see him tomorrow," Quentin offered.

"Okay." Ivy decided she would go check on Mr. Ovillette the next day.

For some unknown reason, she just felt a strong urge to see him. She didn’t even know what she was so anxious about.

That night, Ivy texted Ayre for an update. Ayre replied that Ovillette had slept for quite a while that afternoon, though he wasn’t sure what was causing the discomfort.

Lying in Quentin’s arms, Ivy stared blankly at the ceiling, emptying her mind and refusing to dwell on anything. Sometimes, overthinking only made things more complicated.

The next day arrived quickly. Ivy and Quentin went to the hospital together, bringing along an abundance of fruits and fresh flowers.

Standing outside the ward, Ivy knocked on the door. Ayre soon opened it from the inside.

"Ivy? Quentin? What brings you here?" A flash of surprise crossed Ayre’s golden eyes.

"We came to visit Mr. Ovillette," Ivy said. "Is he feeling any better?"

"Much better. Come on in. He’s still resting. He’s usually so busy, so he might as well take this opportunity to rest for a few days and treat it as a vacation."

Just as Ivy was about to step inside, a sharp voice rang out. "Wait!"

It was the Princess. She marched over and shoved Ivy back out into the hallway.

"How dare you just show up without any prior notice? Have you no manners?"

"I apologize. That was an oversight on our part," Ivy replied calmly. "But we meant no offense."

The Princess refused to let it go. "Who do you think you are? You’re nothing but commoners, yet you have the audacity to barge in here! Do you think my husband is someone just anyone can see? Who knows what ulterior motives you’re harboring!"

Her words were incredibly harsh. Before Ivy could respond, Quentin stepped in. "So, you think your noble status gives you the right to look down on ordinary people?"

"You certainly weren’t acting this high and mighty when you were in the hands of those captors. Do I need to dig up that video again? Perhaps the whole world would like to see how the Princess of Elandra knelt on the floor, begging for her life?"

The Princess was stunned. She hadn’t expected Quentin to have a video of that incident. This was crossing the line!

"Are you threatening me?"

She was genuinely terrified. Above all else, she valued her pride and reputation. If the world saw her—a dignified, noble Princess—groveling on her knees for mercy, the humiliation would be unbearable!

"It’s not a threat. I merely want you to show some respect to my wife," Quentin said coldly. "We don’t expect any gratitude for saving his life, but don’t you dare pull your aristocratic superiority act on us. If we’re talking about power, I can completely paralyze Elandra’s economy. And when that happens, your only option will be to drop to your knees and beg for my mercy."

Quentin delivered the most ruthless words in the coldest tone imaginable.

The Princess couldn’t even muster a retort. Having looked into this man recently, she knew that in a powerful nation like Calypsos, Quentin Blackwood was someone who could single-handedly blot out the sky. His capabilities were terrifying enough to make one’s scalp tingle, and his ruthless methods struck fear into the hearts of all who heard his name.

She knew he wasn’t joking. Everything he had just said was well within his power to execute.
